Thanks for the knowledgeable insight...I appreciate you being here...

About the valve...I paid $50 for the valve...one of the deciding factors was it came via free shipping...there was no mention of the valve having power beyond in the listing (the seller may not be the mechanic) so I was not realling expecting it...

If I have learned anything...this valve will have to be the last in a series or by itself in a circuit...is that correct? i.e., plumb the PB port of the preceding valve to the inlet side of this (topic) valve?

question...if there is a PB port on any valve that is not being used...does it just get plugged?

Yes, it should be the last valve or by itself...

When a valve has a PB "option", there is usually a special "sleeve" that goes in the PB or BYD port to redirect the flow toward that port...so the simple answer to your question is Yes-it is plugged.

sorry I should have been a little clearer...

The PB "option" valves I have seen...if the option port is to be used to power additional valves you must insert a plug or sleeve and then plumb that port to the next valve...if the port is not going to be used the "insert" is left out and the port is capped...?

Question, can the port be capped with the plug in place? i.e., if the pb port is not being used but the plug or sleeve is inserted can the port still be capped off temporally? ...

NO! When the PB plug or sleeve is installed, All the flow from the pump needs to flow out of this port so you absolutely can not cap it at all-it will deadhead the pump. The OUT or T port only carries the waste oil from the work port in a PB valve.

Clear as mud yet?;)

OK so if the PB port is not going to be used the internal insert (plug/sleeve) must be removed in order to cap the port?

the trick is remembering where the little plug is when the pb port is needed...!

knowledge and experience is always "the trick"....;)

You never did show us the rest of the valve. How many total ports does the valve have?
If that is the only low pressure port/return port, you will have to use it.

Sorry...there is only one port on either side of the valve (in/out) plus the 4 standard working ports...for a total of 6 ports

I assume the two flat plugs on top of the valve body are either casting plugs or a way to change the valve from open to closed center?

The Cross BA valve has an outlet port location option on the top, end or bottom. Have you looked at the bottom side of the valve housing?

there are no other ports on the casting...the only other openings I am not sure about are the two caps on the top of the valve body they are down flat on the face of the body between the working ports...?
