Apparently, they "outsource" their FUEL filter manufacturing, as with their other "quality" parts...

I would guess that many products used in our lives are produced in factories such as shown in the video. Is there really any way to know, for sure, the true country of origin?

Just because there is a brand name on the filter, doesn't mean it isn't counterfeit.

If we had a couple billion young and able people scratching to find work for a nickel a day, automation and productivity here would also still be where it was in 1900. The first shop I was in (late 80s) still had similar equipment shown in the video stored in the back room and under the bench. Hand rollers, giant hand shears, smudge pots for soldering, seamers, etc. I thought it was fascinating getting some of it out and using it for specialty fab jobs. Just because Allis Chalmers and Ford etc had assembly lines with power equipment, doesn't mean the rest of the country was there. I have a couple pictures of relatives working in industry around 1900. Pleasant clean automation it was not. Two died at what they were doing. Fun times. 12yrs ago I worked in a plant that made Deere parts for commercial mowers. Antiquated ww2 machines, little automation, heat treat vats in back in the barn. Made in America.

What? This can't be so, can it? I recently saw a tractor filter made in India or maybe Pakistan.

It says car filters but a lot of guys shop for crossover deals for tractors and the cheapest price so who knows what you get?
Probably for a Mahindra....lol Junk anyway.

Yes, you can believe it. If it was made in a country where labour is cheap, then it's made like that. There's still a lot of people doing jobs machines can do, but the person is cheaper. Minimum daily wages found in google: Mexico and Indonesia US$8, India US$2. That means the retail mark up on one filter is often more than these workers earn in a day.
I have come to realise that my standard of living is supported by people working and living in these conditions and where I can I make choices to improve their lot in life.

The worst service I've had from oil filters is Fram. I wouldn't run them if they were free. Saw two come apart inside and suck the filter element thru the oil pump. When you tear the engine down it looks like a mouse has built a nest throughout the entire engine.

If you research it seems AC Delco has the best or almost best reputation. Wix also fairs well.
