Good Morning. I am looking for some information and advice on this plow. It is made by Pittsburgh Forgings and I believe it is a 2-12. There is no model number marked on it. Searches don't turn up a lot of information under that name. I think I remember reading somewhere that the company also made plows for other companies... possibly Ford?

First, since I have no point of reference, can someone give me an evaluation of it's condition, particularly the wear parts? I used it last year and it seemed to work okay, but since it was my first time plowing I wasn't sure what to expect.

Second, most places that sell parts don't seem to list Pittsburgh as a choice. Is this plow compatible with another companies parts? (again, maybe Ford)

Any information, including some history, would be appreciated. Thanks everyone!

May try Taylorway/Pittsburg for a search. From what I see in the pics, you won't need parts for another 200 acres. I can match up parts with your old ones to go by. Ken Sweet

Thanks Ken! That's exactly the kind of info I was looking for. Glad to hear it has a fair amount of life left in it.

Do you think it would be possible/worthwhile to add coulters to it?

Thanks again.

That plow looks to be in great shape, hardly any wear. You should be able to pass it on, when you are finished with it...

Coulters are a luxury IMO. If you have sod or heavily rooted vegetation then they do help for turning the soil over in one piece.

You'd be amazed at how expensive the entire coulter assembly can be.

Coulters make a plow worth more and do help in sod fields. In overgrown fields they are a PITB. If you put some on, the ones with 1 1/2 inch shanks are easier to find than the coulters that have 1 3/8 diameter shanks. Ken Sweet
