If you have hst then I wouldn't worry about going with the wider width. You can always set your pace or even stop and go on the really big storms to remove the snow. You will want some way to control the rotation of the chute, if it's not standard, get the option. The chute height being manual is not that hard to deal with. If you don't mind spending a little extra money on top quality tire chains the importer for Tellefsdal chains is in NH. The salesman drives to Vermont on a regular basis so I got free shipping (my set was over 200lbs) as the salesman just dropped them off. They weren't cheap but if your worried about getting stuck then these will put your mind at ease.

There is a 51" or a 63" snoblower. I will go for the 51"

Learn from my mistake (have 51" blower) and get the 63" for the front

I have a 60" rear blade which makes it 9" wider than the blower 4.5" per side.

So you get a nice clean path until the back blade comes by and you get spoils from that 4.5" knocking snow down...real PITA!

Also my PTO HP is about 2 less than yours and it turns the 51" blower with ZERO issues even in deep snow.

Wow, the blower, subframe, hyd. chute rotator, and snow deflector, comes to around $5700 That's assuming you already have the mid PTO, if not then add about $600 more. A lot more then I thought. There was only a couple of hundred difference between the 51" and the 63", although now that I'm typing it, doesn't seem possible. Anyway you look at it, it's a big number.

It will be MUCH, MUCH cheaper if you opt for a 3PH/Rear blower. No messing around with sub-frames etc.

It's hard on your neck, but you can buy a lot of naprox for the money you save by getting a 3PH blower.

The guy has a 1500 foot driveway. The additional money that a front blower will cost, is money well spent, in my opinion.

Honestly, the only reason I take care of my own lawn and clear the snow is because I truly enjoy it. It's relaxing to me. A rear blower, to me, takes all the fun out of it. Again, just my opinion.

Never used naprox..............I would probably need shots for my neck............and with the recently discovered outbreak of meningitus.............I'll keep my front blower

Both....if you have gravel/dirt/rocky drive use the plow for the first and last snow or while the ground is thawed. Once it freezes use the blower. Because everything mounts so easily now you don't have to be stuck with one or the other!
