Snow Plowing snow

I’ve been planning to plow snow on my driveway (half mile long) using my 4wd L 3010. My thought was to mount an old manual angle plow that I have on the front of my bucket. My dealer advised against it stating that it might damage an arm on the bucket because there would be uneven pressure on them. I really don’t want to put it on the back tph because I don’t want to back all over the place. Any one have experience or thoughts on what I can do? I’m in Vermont, so the snow does add up.

I know that Curtis Cabs (www.curtiscabs.com) makes a power angle snow blade attachment that replaces the bucket on a FEL, so it should be possible to rig someting up. My uncle has a large Belarus 4x4 tractor with a Leon loader to which he attaches a 10ft wide power angle snow plow blade from a dump truck. We live in central New York so that outfit gets plenty of use. The nice part about a snow plow attached to the FEL is that you can push up really high piles of snow if space is limited. As long as the weight of the blade is not to heavy for your FEL and you go easy with it, I think you will be OK. MJB

I have a driveway about as long as yours, and I plowed it very easily last winter (a fair amount of snow, I am also in New England) with just my loader. Sure it takes a few extra passes, but I think you would be surprised and the kind of job it does....

I install a manual angle plow to my bucket and it works just fine.

I also welded a 1/4" flat plate steel to the back of my bucket to give it more strenght..you may want to consider. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I have welded on brackets to put regular plow skid plates on my back blade (they say you can buy the brackets). I hope to be able to just drive through the snow with the blade angled behind me. I know that if I let it get too deep I will be backing down the driveway, but for small snowfalls of less than 1 foot ( I live in upstate NY) I hope I will be able to just drive down. Have I been dreaming that my B7300 will do more than it can?

Thanks all. I think I will go ahead and mount the plow on the bucket, with plate metal in the bucket to reinforce it as was suggested. As long as I don't cowboy it too much in the frozen snowbanks I should be OK.
