Plumbing in shop.. but septic is "uphill from there".. options?

On the boat, the Head pumps into a 20 gallon holding tank, and we have a rule that nothings goes in to it, unless it has been through you first, or the paper, and it's only single ply. We pump it out at a pump out station when we get back to the dock.

But. all things can clog up even the best designed systems, tampons seem to be the worst, but even Butts can clog the "joker" valve in the pump, and not a "joke" to take apart and clean.

The situation is complicated, but I have seen that many have given excellent solutions, but tell us which one helped you. Personally, I had to hire a lift station services because I tried, but I couldn't do it.

I WOULD NOT get the needs of your new office plumbing involved with your existing house sewer system.

1) for whatever reason - the local conditions required a mound system. This indicates, not the best of conditions for on-site sewage disposal.
2) it is possible, though unlikely, this new addition just might overload the house sewer system and require repairs/renovation
3) the expense
4) this "mixing" of these two sources could, in the future, sour the sale of the home

Do something that is separate and stands alone from the house system. Even is it's just burying a tank outside the new office that is pumped infrequently.

Zombie thread alert

He posted this 8 years ago... hopefully the OP found a solution and hasn't been holding it for that long.

We had master gardener college this year online. It was great. Could do it NIFOC.

One of the presenters talked about composting. One thing she advocated was the addition of pee bales. Yeah, you pee on them to get them to degrade and then put them in the compost once they're close to doing so. Gotta be very wary about buying manure and bales now though. Gotta make very sure they haven't had herbicide put into them from use on graze grass or manure from cows/horses who have grazed on such grass. Some herbicides can last for years and are very deadly to horticulture when applied.

Just dig a hole for the rare times you need to do #2, like you would camping.

If the OP's septic tank is only 200 ft away from his proposed workshop/office I think I could walk the distance to the house to handle my needs.

Either than or put in an additional septic tank off of the work shop.

Number 4 for sure. Local case a nice house with party barn and a 'mogther-in-law' trailer house. Couple became disabled and put house on market. No bank would loan on it until the trailer house was removed because it was on the same septic system.
