$40 wow, the kit at WalMart does the same thing, the techne sounds just like the Zanfel, but as I remember it only cost like maybe $5, a lot cheaper. You know how these Drs are, they think you need to pay a lot to get help. Huh Doc??? And then after you get the tectnu the CalaGel helps take care of the itch, you get 6ozs of that. I wonder how much the price of a product that would do that, would cost from the Doc? You would probably get into like at least $100. See why I don't like Drs???? Nothing personal Cowboydoc, just how I feel about Drs. Of course not about all DRs like my Ph.D., but its not MD so its alright. lol

Hey fivestring, I think they have that weed everywhere. If he don't have any I'm sure there is plenty of people that would be glad to let him have some. lol /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That link doesn't show a plantain. I there another name?

Yes it shows it, it just shows it as broadleaf plantain. I guess because it has a broad leaf. The leaves aren't generally very long, probably about 4 inches, give or take some.

That is the only weed that I let grow in my yard!

I don't put out weed & feed because it will kill the plantain.

( Another product to use is "naptha soap". It's an old fashioned bar of soap that you can sometimes find in the laundry soap section of your grocery store. )

Work the Fels Naptha to a thick paste, and keep it on the poison oak for several minutes. This even seems to work on developed blisters.

It'll take a while to remedy, regardless of treatment. Yes, there's a number of over the counter (OTC) products for blocking poison ivy/oak/sumac contact, and excellent advice re. cleaning your skin in the first 1/2 hour or so once you've contacted the stuff. However, once you've got it - a bolus of (high dose for a few days) oral steroids, and steroid ointment on the affected site (Cosco and Sams have weak but cheap and reasonably effective "1% hydrocortisone") until resolved. Sorry, no magic.
I've had the problem, as have my kids and wife while clearing my property - it's best to recognize the stuff before you contact it, but when you're showering a few days after a weekend of working on your country land, and notice a line of redness or welts, well - see above.
Sorry, been there, & suffered through it.

I used to get shots when I was a kid.......umm some 40 years ago. I got them until 1996 or so. They took them off the market because there was no scientific proof they worked. I got poison ivy that year and every year since. My Mother always used to rinse off with bleach if she thought she got into it......that burns but it seems to work for her, I've even tried it and got red skin from the irritation but no blisters.
Zanfel works wonders for me if I have already broke out.
