Haven't updated in a while. The weather has been bad and the progress slow. I did reach a milestone today, got the siding up on all four walls, now the hard part. I dread the up and down ladder trips to finish the gables. The wood is better than expected I have used three bundles and have two left so I should have plenty to do the stalls.

Looks very good! Are you going to run the same wood at the top of the wall under the lean-to?

Looks great!

Should be ready just in time for spring.

WM, yes I plan to use the same wood for the area above the lean to wall. I will do that last so I will be able to use the short pieces left after the siding and stalls arte done. I hope to have the horses in it by May so I hope I can get the barn finished so I can get the fence up.

I'd say you are making good progress and it looks great.

Got one gable end sided will post sme pics once I get the other one done. I"ve got a couple of questions. The two sliders have gaps around them and when I open them they hit the siding and they are free hanging, I can push the bottom of the door out. Is there a kit out there I can buy to seal the doors and secure the bottom and keep it from hitting the side of the barn? One more. What would do to bring the barn floor up to grade, there will be horse stalls on one side and tack/storage on the other. Concrete is not on the budget right now. Thanks!

Is there a groove/track in the bottom of the door frame? I have seen barn door hardware (some with rollers, some just a guide) meant to keep the bottom of sliders from swaying. There are zillions of different hardware doodads for sliding barn doors. Worst case, you could bolt some track on the bottom of the door and then put a guide on the ground. Could be as simple or fancy as you want.

I have a barn set to start in May. If I don't have budget for concrete, my plan is to put down plastic, then gravel (probably #57 or #78, which self compact with minimal work), and then crusher run. That should work fine for utility use, but not sure if it would be OK for horses though. May not be good to stand on, and certainly would not be easy to clean.

Have updated in a while, spring has its chores that take priority that I have been working on so the barn took a backseat. Got the exterior done and the stall dividers in also got the floor rough filled with a sand clay mix that has packed well. I will top that off with about 3 inches. I thought it best to run the water and electricity before I finish off the stalls and tack room. Couple of questions. Its 170 feet from the breaker box in the house and the barn what size wire do you guys suggest I will not be welding out there but will ocassionally run a miter saw and small air compressor. I was thinking 10/3

What amp load? If at 120V, you would probably want #8 copper or #6 aluminum to carry 15-20 amps with acceptable voltage drop. If less amperage needed, you can go lighter. There are online voltage drop calculators that can help you spec the wire. Ideally, you want less than 5% voltage drop at the rated amperage.

I am running #6 aluminum to my barn, which will let me support 15A loads. In fact, the barn builders are using the wire as an extension cord right now, since it's not buried yet. They have run multiple saws and have a compressor kicking on periodically and we haven't had problems. That's hanging off a 20A breaker and GFI outlet right now.

That sure came out looking nice. I really like how it has a timeless look to it. You could have built it fifty years ago, it looks like it's been there forever!!!

Congratulations
