Poll: How many traded before finding the 'right' tractor?

I've stuck with my L4330 HST for 4 years without trading in on another tractor. While I look at the newer, and bigger tractors at the dealership every so often, the 43 HP engine provides enough power to do what I need to do, so another one is not in the cards any time soon... (But if I could get another 10 HP and a cab...)

The problem I found in buying my BX22 was that although I had used small farm tractors on two dairy farms growing up, I really had no idea what could be accomplished with the new breed of compact diesels, and four wheel drive. I had never used a loader, or backhoe, or had the luxury of good hydraulics. I did a lot of things I didn't think possible with my BX, but came to learn that what is possible is not the same thing as having something appropriatly sized for the jobs at hand. When I bought an additional 10 acres of woodland, I sold the BX, but haven't replaced it yet. Like others here, I don't want to go too big because I think I will really miss the handiness of what I had. I guess right now I am kind of waiting to see what the new smaller B series is going to look like. I only mention these things because sometimes that experience is necessary before we understand what we really need..... Darn, and tractors are such a pain to have to go look at, and try out!

I am a slow learner it took 4 for me.
I messed up twice.
june of 1995 I bought a Wards PowrKraft instead of a kubota which is what I had wanted for years.
In Oct of 2006 I goofed again by buying a CC gt2554 rather than the Kubota BX1500 that I wanted.

I upgraded from a BX 2230, which is a good little workhorse of a tractor, to a B7800 for it's size, clearance, hyd. pump output, and workload capacity.
I ended up missing the smaller tractor, so I went out and got a T1570 to park next to the B7800. They seem very happy together.

So do my BX23 and the 2 BX1500s.

I started out with a couple of cub cadets, jumped up to a B7500 ,added a curtis cab to it and ran it for 5 seasons. I got a decent trade in ($8000) and jumped up to the B3030 HSDC. The 3030 has the power i need to do any job, the cab is comfortable, not as quiet as an L cab but there is a huge drop in decibles when you close the door. My machine is a primary tool for how i make my living, 80% lawn care,10% construction,10% snow. Weight played a huge factor in my tractor choice. My needs required a powerful machine with a light footprint for treating pristine grass, i also haul my machine up to 100 miles to get to some jobs so my diesel fuel consumption is lower with a 3030 and a 7800# GVW trailer. I took my time and did my research on this purchase, the B3030 was the only machine to fit all my needs & i have no regrets on this one!

I started out with a Ford 9N. Worked on that tractor EVERYTIME I had to use it. Bought a Kubota L2500 one day out of frustration of working on the 9N. About 6 months later, sold the 9N and used that money to buy a FEL. Kept that tractor for 8 years and just traded it in on a Kubota L4400 with FEL. Real happy with it so far.

Maybe you guys can help me. Been waiting 3 1/2 years, finally decided to get one 2 months ago. Thought I wanted either a B2630 or a B7800, you guys helped guide me through the needs anyalysis process, and ended up on a GL3240. Called the dealer last Thursday to order it, he was heading out on vacation, so he put a hold on one until we could get together and finalize the deal. Well, I'm vascilating again, thinking about the smaller tractor..... both price and manueverability. Trouble is, I know in a few month or years I'll be wanting the bigger tractor.... Slap me up, guys.

If i could, i would have a B7510, a B3030 And the biggest L model. All hst, all equiped with loaders and all with factory cabs, turfs on the B's, industrials on the L.

It only took me one mess up. I first purchased a YM2310 Yanmar 2wd with a loader. It did not take me long to figure out that a 2wd tractor equip'ed with a loader on my property (hilly) was a bad combination. I also realized several other things - I wanted true HST tranny vs. manual tranny and 4wd. So I ended up with what I consider to be the best - Kubota! Love it and would not want anything else.
