Poll: How many traded before finding the "right" tractor?

Well I haven't found the right tractor yet but I did trade within several months of buying my first tractor.

I bought an MX5100 (50hp) and used it for a while, but I bought a round baler and so the tractor was upgraded to a M7040.

That was several months ago and I really enjoy the 7040, but I'm already looking into the 100HP+ range of tractor. Six months ago I would have said 70HP would be more than enough, but now it's apparent it's just getting the job done. I just never saw myself getting so interested and invested into farming, but I love it.

As hundreds have said before me, buy bigger than you think you need. Otherwise that few thousand you would have spent to upgrade will be lost in a trade-in.

Started at 55 hp in a large frame ag tractor. Got tired of the clumsiness for up tight work. Got the L5030HSTC. Fantastic precision, great machine for loader work. Now missing the size and weight of the old machine. Looking at a 90 hp ag machine tipping the scales at 12,000 lbs.

I think eventually I'll end up with a 40-50 hp open station and a big cabbed ag machine.

I started out with an acre and a half and a Farmall Cub. I had to restore it to make it function and look presentable. Then ended up fixing up 14 or 15 old tractors as a hobby.
As far as new compact tractors I started with an Agco ST35, then moved up to a Kubota L4330 cab model. Now that I have more land and bigger projects I am looking at 90+ HP Kubotas and John Deeres. My wife told me last night to make sure I got a big enough tractor this time so she wouldn't have to hear me talk about getting a bigger tractor again in a few years

I don't think that is something that I can promise.

JD5205 2wd was nice tractor but overkill for my uses. Still needs 4wd for loader work.

Kioti DK45C 4wd though very nice, the cab was always in the way changing/adjusting implements and getting on and off. All mowing it would have been great.

L3400HST 4wd performs way beyond expectations. Drives like a sports car.

I started out with an 8N ford, distributor in the front, think I set the points in that thing about everytime I wanted to use it. What a pain, then I bought a little Kubota 245DT I think that was the model. Nice little tractor but underpowered and undersized for what I was wanting. Then I moved up to a L3010 HST. A test drive at the dealer sold me. A neighbor told me I needed a fel and that has to be the most used tool ever invented. I pull a little 4 x 4 Case international baler and it does great. Best machine I've ever owned. Would love a 50 hp or so cab, but don't really need one....lol.
