I have heard that somebody is making a plastic, poly,
or other material skid shoe for snowblowers. I'm thinking
more of the runner type, that are for walk behind blowers,
or front snowblowers for compacts and L&G tractors. This
type typically bolts to the side of the blower housing, instead
of being mounted on a bracket.

Does anybody know where they can be found?

thanks,
:D

Hi Dutch,

You could probably shoe your own without too much trouble. Try checking out the plastic suppliers in your area. I think that the white PTFE board would be your best bet. I know that material is out inside chutes and hoppers on bulk handling equipment and is very slippery. You would need to work out how to fix it to the shoes - maybe countersunk 3/8" screw or similar. Myself, I think the steel does a good job. Let us know how you made out.

Dutch -

If you have a snowmobile dealer in your area you may be able to get some free worn "slides" that have been taken off of snowmobiles (they wear).

It'd be a cheap way to try it I guess - I'm not sure of the longevity if you're dragging these on blacktop or cement though.

Good Luck!
