How do I line my 1/2 acre pond? I'm not certain it leaks, but I don't want to pump 1.5 million gallons of water into it to then find out it will take 20 gallons per minute to keep full. The other reason I want to line it right off the bat is that there are remains of an old plastic liner when I started to dig it out....doesn't bode well.

Has anybody just used clay? What about bentonite clay...how do I find dump truck loads of it......

Thanks, Jim

I just finished up last fall tilling in bentonite to create ponds in a wetland for the state. Other than the plastic, or rubberized mat they use for landfills I don't know of onother way to do it.

I have very sandy substrate and am going to use plastic. Am just starting to investigate the various kinds.

Does anyone have any specific kinds that they're think are better or worse?

The only thing that I know if I believe its edpm is fish safe. What I am trying to say is there is a fish safe pond liner if you go that route. I believe that you can use clay only but have not ever made a pond so I will leave that to people who have

Clay will work. Look for driller's mud.
