Nice design and build! Is that PVC drain pipe?

It is 1.5" pvc drain pipe. It has done very well.
I loaded up and took it to the dealer over an hour away and the canopy didn't have any issues with the wind.
I loaded the tractor on the trailer backwards.
I am very pleased so far.

I also live in Alabama and needed to get some shade for my RK24. Did not want to pay $500 so I put together some 1/2 inch metal conduit that was already bent 90 degrees and bought some 3/4 inch to mount to the tractor. I drilled some holes so the smaller conduit would not twist and bolted on another 1/2 inch piece to the front and some 85 percent shade cloth I had laying around. The only thing I had to buy was the u-bolts and they were short so I hammered the 3/4 inch conduit flat so it would work. I can easily take it off for low hanging trellis wires and reinstall in a short time.
This makes so much difference and I can hang down some of the shade cloth to get more shade. The tan shade cloth was ok, but the 85 shade cloth was better.

Don't know how well it will show up but this tractor had light weight angle iron welded up and part of a sheet of plywood done to it 40 years ago.

The tractor is a 68 model, the plywood has been changed a couple of times

Mine's more "downtown" than that. :p It's plywood over 2" angle iron. They welded the top iron right to the ROPS. My tractor came from a county road service fleet. It had a lot of new parts and I think an engine overhaul. The paint and sheet metal wasn't pretty but I'm working on that right now. I'm also going to move the side support irons higher. I've banged my head on those so often, it hurts just to think about it. The photo below will make a lot of people sick to their stomach but as I said, I'm working on the cosmetics.

I can see where those diagonals would be in the way a bit,
you should be able to move those up quite aways and still have it work for you.
Paint is nice but function is better till thats done paint is a bit down on my list.

I was just looking at that picture date. It's from 2008 so it's had a lot of "function". It's got new tires already. I pulled it up the barn to overhaul the lift. It was weak/bouncing and making noise. While it was there, I thought I'd install the new sheet metal and parts I bought years ago and give it some lipstick. That was two months ago. But I only work until lunch. It's been 100+ here all summer. I'm still cleaning and priming. Some rattle-can paint is going on small parts. I've got a gallon of factory blue with hardener for the rest. I hope to have this ole girl dressed up for the fall dance. :D

Yes, it's been brutally hot. 104F yesterday. Be sure to show us an "after" pic, so we know what you've been up to all summer. :)

that's a great job! would there be any down side do you think if
i were to make one with 2in instead? I use my tractor in the woods a lot and thought the larger size might make it a little more resistant to mistakes.
