When I was a 30 year old I revived a jeep I had bought 14 years earlier. When I bought it it was a barn find 3 years old. An elderly lady bought it new parked it in the garage and never drove it. I drove it for years, loved it, but wear and rust forced me to take it off the road. I eventually spent what seemed a fortune to resurrect it. On my first trip to the general store for gas the owner not knowing its history said "18 gallons of gas. Are you sure it's worth the investment?" Seriously, it was well worth it! Years later I was given an Isusu, my son was 15, considering it expendable we had a grand time with it
I purchased this 95 YJ for 600 dollars with a bad transmission. Sold the engine and bought a rebuilt 6 cylinder with transmission for four hundred difference. Took the body off the frame. Made new motor mounts ( 4 to 6 cyl ) and repaired the rear spring hangers on the frame. The six cylinder axles / drive shaft also came with the deal. Added a new radiator for a hundred and it is woods ready for a total of eleven hundred and change. My wife has the 1100 Kubota which costs 21 times more and I prefer the Jeep. Its faster, rides better, more clearance, and not afraid of " woods rash ". A hydraulic filter for the RTV costs more than minor repairs to the jeep. Thats my story from one extreme to the other.
