I have a tracker like this myself, I put a set of 235 75 15's on it with snow chains on all four wheels. goes really well even with open diffs.
I cut a furnace oil tank open and unrolled it and welded it to the bottom of the frame from the front bumper right back to just ahead of the rear axle.
Best skid plate ever, the bottom is totally smooth and will slide over anything with a few trys.
This lasted 3 yrs of me and my buddies hammering on it in the bush. Its parked now because of a fuel leak and I suspect a sending unit problem as the tank is well smashed in.
Anybody got any ideas for a Cheap fuel cell or tank setup I can put in the back?

Nice project! I was thinking of doing the same thing. Had a line on a tracker that had been sitting for a couple of years 4 miles down the road. Initiated contact ref selling it, but got busy and a few days went by, then I see it drive past the house, westbound & down. Yep, she sold it to someone else for $300.......ARGGGGGGGG!

Very cool idea! I may try that.

slowzuki those are awesome pics! I had thought about adding a dump like that... but I do like the idea of being able to bring the wife and kiddo at the same time. We'll see if that happens at all... and if not she may go under the knife and look more like those pics.

You mean the car right? lol New user and your diy project is nice for the $$. I bought a used Polaris Ranger a couple of years ago with no bells or whistles and it was $7k, but low hrs.

Haven't figgured out what to do with that cable... I think I know, but it isn't going to be as clean as I'd like


I was all set to order some wheel addapters so I could use these Jeep wheels and tires I've got




Not the most agressive, but we'll see. I may add chains to the rear.


Anyway, yes, I was gonna buy addapters... and they were gonna be $250, but I went to help a buddy move and spotted these CJ wheels

Your project brings up memories. I am originally from Czechoslovakia. When the commies were in power new cars were very expensive while old rusted beaters were quite cheap. Since I had a friend who fixed rusted cars for living I bought one of the beaters and worked on it with his help all winter in unheated barn. When it was done it was better than new because all the cavities that originally rusted from inside were rust proofed and painted.
The funny story is that when I brought the car to friend's barn to start working on it he sent me to find a nice sharp wooden post and told me to pound it to the floor of the barn. When I finished it I asked why we need that. He said: Your car is so rusty that we need to wire one of new fenders to the post and then start welding the rest of the car to it.

I ended up behind a Tracker on the road a couple days ago. I was actually in really nice shape. The first thing I thought of was this thread.
