I find that the easiest way to find something is to buy it again. There it is! Actually, I normally find the item in the place I've already looked at several times.

Yes, and it usually turns up when you go to store the replacement tool there.

I lost my eye glasses; I mostly have them for driving and it's a pain to try to look through the bifocals for something up close. A few weeks later I kneeled down to check on a tree that I had planted, taking my spare glasses off and setting them on the ground... right next to the pair which had been missing.

Absolutely. My woods are full of rusty tools that my kids hauled out there. Been 30 years and I still occasionally run across something.

That my have worked for my father, but it doesn't seem to be a problem for me. I must have taught my son better. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

I know the feeling. Lost count of shovels rakes and others that have been lost to the woods by my son. Small price to pay.
