Or you can wiggle a lock pick around in a cylinder and the door will magically open. Same with shooting at it. The bolt always retracts. Any door can be opened by kicking it once.

Has anybody else here ever actually kicked a door in? I grabbed something from my pickup one cold winter night... I was only going out for a minute so didn't bother to put a coat on. That was the time that the doorknob decided to fail; I don't remember what happened but it wasn't locked, it just wouldn't turn the latch.
I grabbed the casing for balance and kicked with the bottom of my foot as high and hard as I could, only succeeding in knocking myself backwards. I climbed back up and kicked, then kicked and kicked again. I was freezing and about ready to got to plan B, breaking a window before it finally gave.

In a discussion a while back about keys I mentioned that I tend to leave one stashed in the truck when I'm home; I started the habit that night.
