Why don't they put a little color in table salt so a person can see how much is being applied?

The salt is usually 'baked in' with 98% of what we eat, second only to sugar, IIRC. (Spoon-on enough pepper and you wouldn't even care. :p)

You mean 'safe' like the chemicals that steam-sucking gadgets roast to make fruit flavors or whatever 'minty' aromas?

"If you want to smoke, risk cancer like a man." Alonzo Bodden  btw, I smoked cigs, pipe, and cigars, chewed Red Man or Beech Nut for fifty years ('66-'97) and will remain a chain smoking tobacco addict until the day I die. Of course, because quitting was too big a project for a simple mind like mine I just stopped all use 2 1/2 years ago, purportedly for health reasons, but more likely to prove I can keep a promise to a Doctor I just met ..
... and until I can come up with a quitting method that works. :confused3:

2 1/2 years for me 'physically', but in my mind I still smoke ~ a pack a day.

Streaming old movies is killin' me. Everybody is smoking, offering cigs, asking for a light .. :(

So, there's iodine in sea water, and iodine is added to traditional table salt ... but no claims of any in 'sea salt' ... ?

Well, at least there are ten or more typical symptoms of iodine deficiency.

If it's dug out of a mountain, it might be just like the 12-15 lb 'mineral rocks' I buy & put out back for deer. :licking: Yuuum!

Being from a land locked state, it is advisable to use iodized salt; ergo, I always buy the Morton Iodized sea salt.

If you don't mind a bit of unsolicited testimony, I will relate what I learned about quitting smoking. There are several epiphanies that you must come to, one way or another, particularly if you were as severely addicted as I was. Of course you have to examine the reasons for quitting and keep them in mind. That should be easy.

First, you must realize and admit to your self that it will be hard...really hard, possibly the hardest thing you will ever do in your life. Really. You also must realize, that it is 99% on your shoulders. You must sink or swim, no other alternatives. Know up front that there is no angel going to come down to take away to give you a massage, take away your urges and leave you a trophy. IT'S ENTIRELY UP TO YOU...NOBODY ELSE.

Second, you must examine your thinking. Most of us use what I call "garbage thinking" to give ourselves an out. Example: "I'm going to TRY to quit smoking". You "try", and fail, but at least you "tried". I did that myself many times. Or you say "I WANT to quit smoking". Big deal. That's a given. So look at what you are telling yourself...AND BE HONEST.

Third, set your goal and do not allow yourself an out. Keeping in mind the items above, it goes something like this: "I am no longer a smoker. I cannot, and will not partake of tobacco ever again in my life. I will end up in the emergency room full of morphine before I will light up another cigarette. That part is done and over...my task is to survive until the urge is gone".

In my case, it went in threes...three days (horrible) three weeks ( bad) three months (pretty much have it licked).

I was selected to teach a "quit smoking" class when I was at the Health Department, and the building went non smoking. The success rate was not spectacular, but as I recall statistically I had maybe 3 or 4 times the average. One example I gave, was from the bible. There is the story of the crippled beggar at the pool of Bathesda. He said he had been there 38 years waiting to be healed, but could never beat anyone else into the water when it was disturbed (the prerequisite for being healed). Thirty eight years...I recall that Jesus said something like this..."Wilt thou be healed? Meaning, "man, you've been here 38 years? Do you REALLY WANT to be healed?
Moral...you gotta want it.

If you are a man (or woman) of faith, a prayer session is advisable. It helped me. "If two or more of you are gathered...".

Sea salt. I just wonder - where does everybody think salt comes from. There is only ONE place - the sea. That salt they find high up on a desert plateau - it was once under the sea.

The term "sea salt" is some advertising genius's idea. They can charge us more if they call it "sea salt". ALL salt is "sea salt".

When you still gravitate toward someone smoking, you haven't quit.

When you remove yourself from someone smoking, you have quit.
