Farmer Jones got out of his car and while heading for his friend's door, noticed a pig with a wooden leg. His curiosity roused, he asked, "Fred, how'd that pig get him a wooden leg?"

"Well, Michael, that's a mighty special pig! A while back a wild boar attacked me while I was walking in the woods. That pig there came a runnin', went after that boar and chased him away. Saved my life!"

"And the boar tore up his leg?"

"No he was fine after that. But a bit later we had that fire. Started in the shed up against the barn. Well, that ole pig started squealin' like he was stuck, woke us up, and 'fore we got out here, the darn thing had herded the other animals out of the barn and saved 'em all!"

"So that's when he hurt his leg, huh, Fred?"

"No, Michael. He was a might winded, though. When my tractor hit a rock and rolled down the hill into the pond I was knocked clean out. When I came to, that pig had dove into the pond and dragged me out 'fore I drownded. Sure did save my life."

"And that was when he hurt his leg?"

"Oh no, he was fine. Cleaned him up, too."

"OK, Fred. So just tell me. How did he get the wooden leg?"

"Well", the farmer tells him, "A pig like that, you don't want to eat all at once!"

Now that's a punch line that takes you by surprise..

Three old duffers were having their daily lunch at the local diner. One old duffer matter if factly said " gone are the days of peeing like a fire hose". The second replied " yep and and a good bowel movement, I miss those". The third replied " I can pee like a cow peeing on a flat rock and have the same bowel movement as concrete out of a truck the same time every morning at 6 am. The other two looked at him and said " and you have a problem with that?" He replied, I don't wake up until 8.....

ALL salt is NaCl - all salt come from the sea.

Even without using the scientific definition of salt, potassium chloride is definitely salty, besides being a salt. You'll find it in "lite salt", it's just "lite" in sodium.

All "salts" came from the sea, yes - just not necessarily recently, as some salt comes from deposits laid down millions of years ago - and not all seas are large (and really aren't seas), as there have been terminal lakes where salts deposit.

Ah - yes, this is true ning. We do have a choice - Morton Iodized salt - $0.69/pound or Himalayan Pink - $7.00/pound or SaltWorks Pure Gourmet Sea Salt - $4.31/pound. I looked but was unable to find "Organic" sea salt. But I'm sure it's not far off. There surely is a demand somewhere.

On the salt thing, I use Morton's "Lite Salt" that is potassium chloride and not the sodium salt. Our water softener uses potassium chloride salt chunks as well. So, there are alternatives to sodium salt since we get so much in our foods without asking for it.

I use very little salt in cooking. It might be $7 a pound but this 200 gram pack has lasted me two years and and I prob still have half left.

We use Maldon Sea Salt, has a waxy texture and doesn't leave a burning sensation like cooking salt, downside is it is not cheap but we don't add a lot of salt to anything, SWMBO likes the Himalayan pink salt, I even eat chips (fries) without salt, you can actually taste what they are made from, pity some of the fast food outlets don't give you the option.
Then there is that culinary abomination, chicken salt, whoever devised that should be shot with a ball of their own sh#t.
