Well...that is interesting. I was looking for a method to bend them, and found a "rebar bender" at Home Depot, but it was $40 /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I instead made on myself from 1/2" black pipe. It is basically a 36" handle, then a tee, then (off each end of the tee) a nipple, 90 elbow, nipple and cap. Think of it as a two pronged fork, but with the forks at 90 deg to the handle. You then place the re-bar between the forks, and slide another piece of black pipe over the length of the re-bar. You now have two rigid levers, and can bend the rebar 180 degrees by hand.

I can take some pictures this afternoon fo the bending tool, and how it works.

Re: \"Portable\" Arena

Dave,

I like your ingenuity. The arena looks sharp. It makes me want to go build an arena. But then I'd need to go buy the horses to go with it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Nice job!

The re-bar inserted into the tool prior to bending.

Re: \"Portable\" Arena

The re-bar after bending. Notice the extra length of pipe used to keep the main length of re-bar from deforming, as well as to provide extra leverage.

Re: \"Portable\" Arena

Dave,

I could have used something like that this week. I thought about using my half-inch EMT conduit bender but decided I would damage it, and ended up using some pieces of wood that were held in a vise, which was kind of a pain...your set up would have been so much easier!

Thanks for posting the pictures! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Re: \"Portable\" Arena

Nice idea. I suppose I could do the same thing by clamping two pieces of pipe in my vise " a la Henro" and use a long piece for the fulcrum.

Thanks again

Kevin
