Portable buildings

Grandfather had a "camp". Passive solar design and originally off grid built in 1958? Came in handy when his home burned in '80.

I was thinking about doing both ideas a portable building to get out of the weather when in the woods (-8 has me dreaming of a wood stove in small space) and a "camp".

Do you have children? Do you have enough land to lease the hunting rights? Will you be able to accommodate your family or a hunting party? Codes will get to your area eventually, usually faster when people stray too far away from quality (build a tar paper shack on the edge of the road and watch what happens) .

Many people who are just starting out have put up a pole barn and parked a camper inside. Living on site while building their house.

Where are you working? Will changes force you to work farther away?

I have electric, water and sewer on the place, yes, there already half grown, but they hunt also! I have access to over 5000 acres of row crop land to hunt. That is where I do my hunting, this is a place mom left me. I'm not just starting out, my home place is close to thirty miles away, I'm a engineer on a towboat on the lower Mississippi River! My job lets me live where I want, I'm gone thirty days at work and home for thirty days, I work on that farm on my days off, the main reason I want this place is so I don't have to drive so much! I duck and deer hunt this time of year. When I'm working on the farm I have a lot 14-15,hour days. That is another deal that has come up, I also do guided duck hunts on the side and the lodge I work for is needed more space to accommodate hunters, so that is something I was just made aware of!
