Can anyone tell me if there is some type of an adjustment that can be made to the position control to make it smoother and easier to operate on my TC-40D? Mine seems to take an excess of hand pressure to go from the raise/lower position for the 3-point. This really makes small adjustments almost impossible to make without bumping the knob with the palm of my hand. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I have lubed all the linkages and looked in my shop manual but I see no reference to this type of a condition.

Pineridge,

I had to adjust mine on my TC29D. I don't know if it is the same or not but follow your link to right where it goes into the tractor. There you should see a cotter key that you can take out. Take the key out and then loosen the nut there about a half a turn and then put the key back in. You will notice a major difference. I think it is the same on your tractor also.

We often use a product similar to WD-40 and spray on the friction points to help loosen controls.

Use murph's method and your problem should be solved. I did that to my TC40 and also had a problem with the lever rubbing the sides of the plastic slot the lever goes thru.........I got under the fender with a crescent wrench and gave the flat sides of the lever a minor twist so the lever cleared the slot and ran down the middle without rubbing the sides..........had to do the same with the 2-4wd lever too...........TOM

Murph thanks for the advice. I had to pull the right rear tire to get the mangled cotter pin out to the castle nut but once that was done I easily backed the nut off 1/2 turn. Once I got everything back together operation is now as smooth as a babys rear. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Pineridge,

Glad it worked out ok for you. I did not have to remove my tire but I know if I had the jack to do it I sure would have because it was tough getting in there. I did get mine with only a few 4 lettered words.

Mike,

I am so glad you brought this subject up.. My 3PH lever is really stiff too, now I know that there is a solution! (hoping that the class II is the same as the class III....)

Kris I think they are all about the same as far as this little problem goes. If you can't get the cotter pin out going at it from the back of the tractor you may be faced as I was with pulling the right rear tire. It's easy after that and 1/2 turn counterclockwise on the castle nut made all the difference in the world. Let us know how you make out Kris. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I actually did my work from the front of the tire. But like I said I did have to use a few four lettered words. Taking the tire off would make a big difference if you have the tools to do it.
