Position Control - worth extra $$?

I thought there had to be more to it for $1500. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

There must be something more than position control to make it $1500 higher?

I don't know about the rest of the folks out here but I use my position control all the time for box blading. I'm not sure it's worth $1500.00 bucks - but it is heavily used.

The $1500 may not be for the position control. You may be just paying more for the tractor to begin with. I would go to the dealer and tell him he is $1500 high and see if he would come down some. That position control I found even works with my MMM also. It allows the mower to float some and prevents uneven cutting. Don't know why it just does.

I'm surprised the difference is that much. I too went through the same thing almost 2 years ago. Showed my local NH dealer the Kubota quote, and he nearly matched it. Other than position control, it just seemed that the TC21D was just a little less "tinny" than the B7500.

I would have considered both the B2410 & TC25D, but they we both considerably more (for just a few additional HP).

The NH has been great... but it really boils down to the dealer (sole reason why I did not consider JD... during my initial visit, he had no time for my little needs).

Good luck!

Wow! Thanks to all for the info, found out more than I expected. The specs from Don were especially helpful, I have not been able to find any info on the new 12LA loader (forgot to ask the dealer in all the excitement of driving the tractor). For my uses, the NH appears to have more advantages than just the position control, including 16" higher reach.

I should clear something up here. The $1500 difference I mentioned was based on quotes between two different dealers on different brands of tractors, one Kubota and one NH. I thought I was comparing apples to apples as far as the size of the machines and implements to add. The position control was the only difference apparent to me, so I loosely equated that to being a $1500 upgrade. Thanks again for pointing out that there are several differences, all of which help justify the added $$. Now I just have to decide when to get down to bargaining details, I don't believe in making an offer until I know I am ready to write the check if the deal is accepted. Which leads to my next question - any suggestions on how to make this purchase turn out to be the best early mother's day present ever bought for my wife?

Thanks for listening to this newbie, hopefully my future posts will be in the "using" forums.

Don't tell your wife ahead of time. Just surprise her! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Get a price on the New Holland TC24D. In my area there is only a couple hundred dollars difference between the two. Three more horsepower and bigger more advanced turf tires should give better overall traction. They both take the 12LA loader. Any new TC21/24 will be the new 12LA loader.

If you have a Kioti dealer in your area(don't know where your at) the CK20's are certainly worth a look(production models should be here in April). The initial reviews have been excellent and the pricing is very competitive.

"TC21D was just a little less "tinny" than the B7500. "

That is because the TC21 is more plasticy than the B7500, /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif. Hey, just messing with you. I like that TC21, nice unit.
Yep, position control is an absolute need for me. I like the proportional control when boxblading etc.
Insurance, my Kubota was financed since at the time my investments were returning more than the interest rate on the 'bota was costing me--my how things change. Anyway, my homeowners covers my tractor and that is the only "proof" I had to supply. Yeah, if you finance something like a car or a tractor you have to have some kind of insurance /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif.
Oh, I am backkkkkkkk and I got to get over to that oil thread. J

Oh No!!!!!!!! You were right on with the upgrade to the TC24D - only $300 more. And with the same "footprint" as the 18 and 21, which counts for a lot since I am trying to stay with a smaller unit considering my space limitations. I may as well get a canopy and reclining seat if I keep going, cause I'll be sleeping on it or the couch!

Another thing I noticed on the 18 was the lack of a control valve to adjust the rate of drop on the 3ph. The snowblowers I am considering approach 450lbs, so I am thinking that might also be an advantage to the larger units.

Still shopping - Can you get a good nigth's sleep on one of these? Might need the block heater until the snow melts /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I just purchased an L3130HST (received it two weeks ago).. and I did finance (0%) through Kubota. They required some paperwork from my insurance agent.. but did NOT require me to purchase insurance through them.. that was an option.. but not required as long as my agent would give them a note saying my homeowners policy covered the tractor.
