check this picture: Yanmar Tractor Parts: THREE POINT AND PTO

You will see the chains you need to pull the arms towards the tires. When you don't have any attachments on the arms just use a bungy cord to keep them pulled in.

Here is a scan out of an F24/FX24 manual showing the 3 point set up. Not knowing whether the F14/FX14 would be the same or not.

Hoye also shows this listed under the F14/FX14 (D) tractor? Yanmar Tractor Parts: LOWER LINK ASSEMBLY

Thanks for your help. When you say it's jury-rigged, what exactly is wrong? Is it the lower link assembly?

Mine looks different to the one picture above, in that the rod that the link arms mount onto seems to allow a lot of lateral movement of the arms. What I mean is that they can slide a long way left and right. I take it that the arms should be constrained closer to the centre line that the outside? If thats the case I could drill the rod and put pins in.

I'm still not at all sure where the stabiliser chains would affix at the tractor end though. Can anyone help with that?

Sorta what you need. However, I can't tell enough about the home made lower link assembly to know whether it is solidly anchored and strong enough. Also, you will need a place to fasten the linkage stabilisers. Your pins stick way out to far for my liking.

That stabiliser I linked to, I think, is designed to fit onto the ends of the very long lower pins. I don't think the lower link is home made, there are a few small tractors for sale on Ebay UK that have a similar lower link. See what you think of this one... Compact Tractor Yanmar | eBay

Mine isn't identical to that, so I'll take a clearer photo and post it shortly.

OK, here's some pictures of the lower link from below. Suitable or not?

I hate to be negative but just two bolts holding that rod across there just doesn't look right to me. I think I have jerked on my 3 point hard enough to pull one of those bolts out. Just an opinion. Maybe factory.

The lower lift arms on the ebay tractor you attached look awfully close together. I don't see how the stabilizers are able to spread them. It also looks line the lower link is bolted underneath the tractor similiar to the one shown on Hoye.

I know I am not much help but just giving my honest opinion. There won't be a charge. :D
