Possible trade-up - BX2200 to BX23

   / Possible trade-up - BX2200 to BX23 #11
With the Woods frame kit for the 2230 you should not have an issue. The Woods is selling from $4500 to $6000 depending on the dealer. Its a good option if you dont want to trade and so on.

Matt,

There's been a lot of discussion about this over the last year; some of it got pretty heated. I encourage you to go back and research it. There is no test data re. the Woods BH6000 other than Woods' own results. I'm interested in this bh too, but none of us really knows how it will perform on a BX. Kubota says that the frames on BXs (other than BX22 & BX23) will not handle a bh. The only report on TBN of the use of this bh was on a JD. No one has yet put this bh on a BX, put it through serious work, then given feedback here. I have very difficult hardpan. I'd like this bh, but I have real fears of digging at an angle and overtorqueing and thus malforming the frame.

I remember that you said you were going to buy one, test it, and write a review for offroad.com. Have you done that yet? If so, many here would like to read it. If you have any kind of evidence, test evidence or even anecdotal evidence, please share it with us. When we have an opinion like </font><font color="blue" class="small">( you should not have an issue)</font>, it would be prudent to state that that is an opinion, rather than something that's for sure.

I personally would like to have this bh. I would like to know with certainty that I </font><font color="blue" class="small">( will not have an issue)</font>, but we really do not know that with certainty. My wife and I have a great relationship, but I gotta' tell you: If I spent $5000 on a hunch that this thing works, then ruined it and the tractor, I'd be in the doghouse for a very long time /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif . I'd also hate to recommend it to someone based solely upon my hopes, then have that person mess up a frame on account of my advice.

</font><font color="blue" class="small">( While at the parts counter at my local dealer, the tractor salesperson saw that I was picking up parts for a BX2200. We started talking and before long, he had me interested in the BX 23. (which I was already very interested in anyway)

My BX2200 is an 02 model with 150hrs and has the FEL and 54"MMM. I would want to keep my MMM. His trade in offer for it less my MMM was $8000, this was without seeing it but the thing is in good condition. He offered the brand new BX23 for $14,500.(no mmm)

*Does this sound like a good deal?

)</font>

*You get a new tractor loader and a proper back hoe for only $6500 and the tractor loader and the back hoe has a 2 year warranty.

It would cost almost that much to add an off brand jury rigged hoe to your BX2200 and when you get done you would have almost the same money in a 3 year old tractor & loader and no warranty on either one with an off breed back hoe.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If I were going for a new mower on the deal I would upgrade from the old 54'' to a new 60''.
I haven't seen any need for a mulcher on my 60'' MMM.
The 60' mower allows for getting in closer when mowing along ditches and around objects therefore reducing trimming with a string trimmer.It also cuts down on mowing time.
</font><font color="blue" class="small">( I got that same deal last year for my BX2200 on a trade for a BX-23. I kept my MMM and my snowblower in the trade and used them on my new tractor. )</font>
I got a Back hoe when I got my BX23. It saved me from having to upgrade to a back hoe now.
Thanks to that move I don't have to shell out another $4500 to $6500 on top of what I original paid.
At $6500 lww05 is much farther ahead doing the trade.
What you suggest is almost the same dollar amount and will leave him with a 3 year old tractor & loader without a warranty.
I don't see much wisdom in spending $4500 to $6000 for an old used 2002 tractor and FEL and an off brand woods BH
when The poster can get a new BX23 with FEL and a new Kubota BH for $6500 and its all new with a full warranty.
<font color="red">I don't know why (Scrounger) is so hip on the Woods BH.
At $4500 to $6000 it cost $800 to $2300 more than the $3700 I paid for the KUBOTA BH on my BX 23.
Since the woods bh cost this much more than the Kubota BH I don't see any reason to even consider woods!
</font><font color="blue" class="small">( .................*You get a new tractor loader and a proper back hoe for only $6500 and the tractor loader and the back hoe has a 2 year warranty.)</font>
The tractor comes with a 3 year warranty and the loader and backhoe even when attached at purchase only come with a 1 year warranty.
</font><font color="blue" class="small">( It would cost almost that much to add an off brand jury rigged hoe to your BX2200 and when you get done you would have almost the same money in a 3 year old tractor & loader and no warranty on either one with an off breed back hoe. )</font>
To call the Woods backhoe an "off brand", "jury rigged", "off breed" is a prejudicial statement at best. Apparently you are not aware of the fine reputation that Woods enjoys in the tractor selling community for fine products that span over a half century. Ever hear of Wain-Roy??? That is the Woods division that invented the backhoe.. As for warranty, I believe that the Woods backhoe comes with a one year warranty. If you take the value of his tractor as it presently stands and add the cost of the Woods backhoe, he still will be in for less than it will cost to trade up to a BX23. If he feels that the difference in cost for the new unit warranty is worthwhile, then it is the way to go. If his present machine is in good condition with low hours, then it might just be financially sound to add the Woods backhoe. That new tractor warranty might just cost him $2500-$4000 more in the end. He won't know until he tries to make the trade...
