Post-buying Perspectives (long)

Yankee, just as with the 2610, the Case DX24 was also not out yet when I bought my TC24 (2003 model purchased last June), so that was not an option. My Kubota dealer is also a Case IH dealer.

For the apples-to-apples comparison, the NH TC24 is similar to the B2410 from Kubota, not the B2610. So the prices of the B2410 should have been very close to the TC24 prices.

My Kubota dealer might be losing some sales to NH on price simply because I am seeing a lot more small tractors on the NH lot lately where he used to special order the small stuff and specialize in the agricultural market. The Kubota dealer seemed to specialize in the smaller estate size machines and the two dealers seemed to coexist very nicely. I'm guessing that the local Kubota dealer may have been trying to get fat and the NH dealer might have seen an opportunity to move some volume at reasonable profits? It is just a guess. But there is no way that there should have been a $1000 price difference last June from two nearly identical tractors.

When I looked at the TC21D, and the B7500.....basically comparing the TC24 to the B7610, the only advantage to the New Holland was the position control. I like the New Hollands, but when they dropped one off, they dropped it off with no fuel. AND, when I drove the tractor up my long driveway hill, the motor seemed less powerful than the B7500, as well as the shorter wheelbase caused me to pulll wheelies up the drive with the rotary mower on. At the time I wound up with a B7500. The New Hollands are quite a bit more than the compareable Kubota.

Excellent post! I agree with almost everything you said, especially about the cup holder. I really want one. I have got to figure out a good way to add one.

Yankee,
Thanks for the very informative post on your B7610 ! It was very welcome considering the fact I'm zeroing in on a tractor in that bracket myself. I'd love to go Deere, possibly as large as 4210 at the top of the heap. Between the lack of interest in paying what the Deere dealer wants for his machines and the excellent deal/customer service I got out of the Kubota dealer in the past (only about 3 miles away as the crow flies), it's hard to spend more for what may not be as good on the service end. I'm pretty confident of the Deere machines themselves. Well, it will all play out by summer's end - that's when the work will begin. Can't trust getting enough rain to redo the entire yard until it cools down some and I'll make it without til' then unless a great deal presents itself.
Thanks again Yankee !

Yankee:

It's almost ridiculous how timely and appropriate your post is in terms of helping with my current purchasing decision.

Combined with all the great commentary I've received from my inquiry (see post "Need your help in finding the perfect Kubota...") I feel like I'm going to be making as informed a decision as possible.

Very nice.

By the way, no worries about not having a digital camera. I have one, and from the looks of things my tractor's going to be just like yours...right down to the R4s. With a little luck, I'll be posting a picture of mine shortly...

Very well thought out and written post. This kind of post-buy analysis is one of the most useful parts of TBN, and you've provided a textbook example. Thank you.

Very good and accurate summary.

For the very first time yesterday I took the FEL off my tractor to mow. It wasn't a big deal mowing with it on but I agree...... take it off! Less bouncing... nicer ride.... probably safer also. (as I cut around a propane tank I wondered what might happen if I punctured the tank with the FEL and had high pressure propane blasted toward the hot exhaust of the running tractor)

I'll bet it would be VERY exciting for a real short period of time!
