Hello--Nice outfit--congratulations--Have you tried digging a hole Yet? It looks like a standard PHD and sometimes the BX22 with its low profile, needs the special digger built for compact tractors--basically all they do is let you get the auger out of the hole and not have as much overhang out the back.--Ken Sweet

Joe, is the spring-loaded chute missing on the outlet of your MMM or is it just an optical illusion?

The PHD looks good. I bought the Woods 1120 when I bought my BX-22, but wish I would have done some more shopping for something with a little more depth available than 30"...

Ken,

Thanks for the compliment. It is a standard sized PHD (TSC/Speeco?). I have not dug a hole yet, however knowing that clearance has been an issue, I brought the rig to my father's shop and the machinist in him took over. He's always willing to educate this son in the finer arts of metal crafting. We drilled another hole on ctr. with the others on the boom. It was closer to the lifting arms and allowed the auger bit to be 8" of the ground. I'm hoping that's enough. Take care.

Jim,

The spring loaded shoot is missing. I took it off since I have the mulching kit mounted and it has a baffle blocking that discharge so it seemed like an OK thing to do.

Please let me know if this is not a good thing. I don't mind learning the right and wrong ways of safe tractor operation since this is my first. Thanks Jim

Hi Joe

tell us what ya think of that Speeco PHD, I've been looking for a lower priced one for my 2210. the local farm store sells the Speeco but doesn't have any in stock. Are PHD augers standard in that you can use any brand auger with any brand PHD or do you need to use a Speeco auger with a Speeco PHD. Can you get larger then a 12 inch auger for the Speeco, should be my question.

thanks
Phil

Joe, if you have the multching kit installed, then the flappy chute isn't "in play". No problem that I know of...and a few more inches of side clearance to the right when you are mowing!

Phil,

I haven't dug hole one with it yet as I am still laying out and planning for the deck. I will post pictures as I'm digging.
From what I've seen it looks like the bit is pretty standard at the attatchment point. I'll look at the manual to see what the specs. are. As luck would have it I purchased the 9" bit first and did some thinking while making the new rig fit my bx-22. I decided that using 8" sono tubes would make back filling difficult so I bumped it up to a 12". That way I'll also be able to widen the bottom and creaet some sort of footing. Hope this all helps.

Joe
