I am getting my Kubota B2910 within the next weeks. I am in need for a Post Hole Digger. Soil in the area is rocky and has a lot of shail. I have priced the Woods 1160 PHD for $875.00 with the heavy duty 12" Auger Bit. I have also priced a Befco for $900.00 with a 12" Auger Bit. I have also priced the Bush Hog 2102 for $975.00 with a 12" Auger Bit. I am not sure of all my options. I have heard about the Farm Center PHDs but I heard they wouldn't hold up in my soil. I am leaning towards the Woods. Will my tractor handle these PHDs? Anybody used any of these? Should they hold up under my soil conditions?

What's your soil condition? How many posts are you planning to put in?

Hello, if you happen to be near me I would like to make an offer. I have a Befco Mole post digger with a nine inch Befco auger and also a Pengo Carbide point and cutting teeth auger bit made for HD road work. The flights on the auger I have are atleast twice as thick as the ones on other HD augers. I believe they are a full three eigths inch hardened steel. If you visit the Pengo site you will look for the aggressor bit. If you have tough soil conditions don't go with any auger thats not carbide. I did and boy was I sorry. This setup is a beast in poor conditions. I am going to sell the unit since I can no longer do my business due to an accident. If you are close let me know the unit has always been kept inside a shop so it is in great shape. Bigguy LEver39537@aol.com

You can buy one directly from Green Mfg. Co. and have it shipped for about $65. You would have to assemble. The EM5000 digger, a good unit for a good price is $450. A 9" auger would be about $100 if you got a heavy duty one. Website: Green Mfg. Co.

I'd definitely go with the heavier duty ones then with that kind of soil. The Woods is a good unit.

I have the smaller Woods 1120 for my BX and it's a good implement...other than the paint job. The larger one you're considering is pretty sturdy.

Danuser is another reputable name in PHDs. Mine has worked flawlessly, but has only seen light duty.

Here is a link to their website.
