Thanks for those pics BB TX. This is what I've been looking for. I'm going to build something like it if you don't mind. I may try to find some beefier stock? I'll have to try and figure how much the bucket can handle.

Tubing with a little thicker wall and heavier angle would add capacity. However, a lot of weight cantilevered out on the front of the bucket will also put a lot of strain on it. My needs are mostly for bulk rather than a lot of weight. With this arrangement, I can load the bucket with small stuff and put larger stuff on the forks. If it is trash or brush, I can easily dump the items on the forks and in the bucket at the same time.

Scrap metal c channels for forks - $10 (local scrap yard)
1/4 inch chain 6 ft * 1.30/ft - $7.80 (Quality FF going out of business sale)
1/4 inch non-racheting load binders $10/ea - $20 (harborfreight.com)
Sawzall blades 5 pack - $15
Rustoleum Rusty Metal Primer - $7.50/qt
Rustoleum flat black spray paint - $3.50/can
Cheap paint brush - $1

Total cost of materials - $69.80 for 2 forks

I used a friend's welder (at my house - my electricity) First welding job, woohoo/w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

The load binder hooks slip into the top c-channel quite nicely. There was no need to weld any kind of eye or loop there. Those openings also make a real nice hand grab!

Those forks look real slick, nice work. When you get them mounted on the bucket post some more pics. I to may have to raid your idea.

They slide right on...

Install seperately to any width

The load binders slide into the hand holds -
no eyes or chain links on the top!

Both installed and under tension - less than 2 minutes,
light enough for a 6 year old to carry!
