Wondering if one of these will work well for ditching. I have to cut one about 150' between my neighbors place and mine. last time I used her troy bilt, but since I have the Kubota wanted to use that. I can pick one up at auction today, most likely for around 40 bucks. Another project is going to be a ditch for burying wire in conduit for the wifes pond.

Any one done this, or have any ideas, they would be appreciated

Have used a potato plow for burying irrigation lines and wiring for the pump. Depends on the soil and how deep you want to bury it. In really hard ground several passes may be needed, but it works quite well.

I would definitely get it, they are $100 new at TSC, if it is what they call a middlebuster.
Never can have to many implements.

Anyone have a picture of one of these guys? I have several long rows of potatoes I need to plant and don't want to break my rear...

OK, now it has dirt on it, but man does it make a ditch. 8" on the first pass. I do have a question, is there anyway to get more ground clearance and not shorten the thing. I am getting Pats system soon and I know that will give me some more arm length, but I am real close on ground clearance.

First ditching with it, 2 passes and it would hold anything this boy would want to do. Oh and the way the wife approved, I told her we could use it to make the ditch to her pond for the pump............all approved and got the go ahead then.

great, anyone have photos of this system, and any "professional" that is all you great folks, reviews.

i live by what really works, engineers can say and do anything on paper, but where the rubber meets the road is whether it works in reality

thanks in advance

Sure wish I could get one for $45!! I have it on my want list also and hoping that since garden season is coming up the wife will want it /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Then of course as you say everything is greenlights.

Danny, try moving the top link connection to the tractor to another hole. I have three choices on my CK20 and depending on which hole you place it in, you can get a little more clearance. I believe you would move it to the bottom most hole, but I can't remember for sure right now, just try each, and then adjust the top link at the implement to try to get more clearance. Hope this helps. Isn't that also called a middle buster? John

Yes it is called a middle buster and after seeing the results of just a couple of passes, I can see why. That thing moves some dirt.

I dont have multi holes in my top link or the option of others, unless I misunderstood your question. See the photos at the first of this thread and you can see what I am up against.

I am interested in the BX attachments that someone brought up on this thread also, but have not seen a photo or any other info on them

Yes, you can use a middle buster/potato plow for trenching, and there are a bunch of prior posts on such.
Advantages include the low cost of the plow, and the easy use (point tractor where you want the trench). Disadvantages include the limited depth (18" for most; which eliminates water line use in northern climates), and the necessity of a shovel to clear the bottom of the trench (the dirt is broken up, and some, depending on density of dirt , will be cleared from the trench - but it's not a clean trench).

( See the photos at the first of this thread and you can see what I am up against.) Sorry Danny, I missed that pic somehow. I saw the plow only at first. No, I can't see how to get more clearance. The suggestion I made wouldn't give you enough even if you had the holes (they are located where the top link hooks to the tractor, not the implement if you have them). I didn't realize you had the "limited 3pt", I think that's how it's categorized. I think it's more of a tire size problem isn't it? Good luck I hope you find a way. John

Any cat 1 implement is supposed to work on this tractor. JD uses the limited cat 1.

Tire size is the biggest thing with the BX series

Danny, I think it's in the way it is designed.
I don't have but about 5 inches clearance, either.
This is one implement that you travel in low range to get where you are going because if it snags, it'll pick up the front end. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
Don't ask me how I know.

hehheheehheheehheheh, that is EXACTLY what concerns me. I think that maybe a lot of caution would be in store for this tool. I may try drilling the extra holes in the arms that lift the bottom link. also going to wait on my Pats system to see if that helps
