Great looking setup Mech. I can almost picture all that hardware on my 790! Of course, my pictures won't have those mountains in the background. Is that just to make us even more jealous?

..and of course paying for all of this because it is not cheap.

But, impressing your freinds on the internet: Priceless!

Thanks for letting us learn from your experience.

I was originally wanting to add a hydraulic center link, so I could lift my rotary cutter up high for crossing terraces and ditches (it bottoms out on a foot drop, but I don't have those tall tires) and one of the add-on grapples to my bucket.

After seeing that, I can appreciate that having full TnT on the box blade could be really convenient. If I understand it correctly, with that valve and simalar set up, I could do it all!

Glad to see lots of 790 owners showing up. With the 2000 series being so popular and the 790 being somewhat unique in the line up. I've been wondering if I bought the proverbial red-headed-stepchild.

Regards,

P7

Thanks Mech: That is really helpful. If you do not mind my asking. How much did all this cost to complete your setup?

The valve was about $200, the Frontier Kit about $240, the TnT cylinders $460 with shipping, the JD quick disconnects over $200, Power Beyond about $220, all the hoses, connectors, pipe sealer, ties, sleeve material, metal for brackets, nuts and bolts, etc, I don't know exactly but over $300. Total probably over $1500-$1600 w/o me finding all the invoices. I sure you can do the cylinders cheaper by finding them yourself and you don't have to get JD Quick Disconnects except where you have to connect to the power beyond ports. I won't get much use out of the TnT until I start grading in the spring but the front blade angle works great with the snow. I'm thinking about picking up a PTO snowplow if I can find a deal in the spring/summer and then may put quick disconnects on the one of the TnT cylinders or put a diverter valve in and re-purpose that control valve for a hydraulic control on the chute. There is just no end to how much you can play with these trac-toys.

Since mountains were mentioned I've included a panarama that my photographer wife did from behind our house, a picture from the deck off of our bedroom and our last really big (5-6 ft but 3 days of melt in the picture) snow. I don't drive 51 miles one way to work for nothing! Now back to tractors.

Let us know how you make out with the grapple. I have 790 I bought in 2000, with FEL. I mainly use it for brush clean up, it is difficult at times to keep a load of brush on the bucket, usually ends up stacked up on the loader frame and I hate that...I've seen ad's for the grapple attachment. How permanant is the grapple mount? Can you easily remove/replace? I have power beyond.
A funny story about power beyond, My friend has JD 970, wanted PB for log splitter, he buys the kit and begins to install same on tractor, as he was removing bolts on rear of tractor, he hears a clunk. He dropped a bolt inside the tractors rear, afraid to start it, he called dealer who promply came to his house and hauled to shop. It turned out to be an expensive power beyond lesson.

Something I discovered with my 790/ #70 loader, it has metal wedges which shimes the loader into the frame mount. The left wedge came loose, allowing the loader to pop off the mounting bracket (as I was hauling top soil). I drove wedge down and tightened it up, but, while using the loader, can see that its getting play in it again. I thought about laying a few beads of weld across the wedge, building it up, before driving it back in, tighting it down. Funny thing is, the wedge doesn't appear worn, I can't figure out why it keeps becoming loose! Anyone have any ideas? I like the #70 loader for what I do with it, but, the few times I've used it for heavier work, it seems to flex alot Ron L. (New Park Pa)
