\"Power Beyond\" type valve

Owners manual of my BX1500 states that if a remote hydraulic control valve is added to tractor, the remote valve must be a "power-beyond" type. I want to install one remote control valve to operate one double action hyd. cylinder. I will NOT add more remote valves in the future. Is there any reason to have to install a "power-beyond" type valve? A rep. at www.surpluscenter tells me that the only reason for such a remote valve is possibility of adding more valves downstream in the future. Thanks for your input.

Re: \"Power Beyond\" type valve

KubBx -

There was a discussion several months ago about installing rear remotes - I posted a picture of my setup - and some interesting info (I finally learned what "power beyond" really meant!) came out of it as well.

Rear Remote Discussion

I found out that my valve isn't installed to allow for "power beyond" - and while it doesn't cause any specific problems - if I am lifting my 3PH - my additional valve does not work. If it were installed as a "power beyond" valve / configuration - then this would not be an issue.

So - while I don't plan to add any additional valves - the way mine is installed does not allow "full functionality" of ALL valves at the same time. For me this is no big deal - but "your mileage may vary...."

Hope that helps - I think the discussion between MadReferee and myself in the linked thread explains the "power beyond" hydraulic function quite nicely.

Cheers,

Dan

Re: \"Power Beyond\" type valve

Where are you going to install the valve? Front or rear of the tractor. If you are interested in reading a lot about this, then I suggest that you read the following thread. It is an interesting discourse and theory analysis of a similar situation that I started. I also did a post about adding a rear remote to the BX22, which is similar to your tractor. If you are thinking of the rear remote, contact me by PM and I can give you some tips... Here is the thread on the rear remote that I added to my tractor. There are many ways to accomplish this, but it all depends on your level of patience, understanding of mechanics, and mechanical ability. If you have basic tools and some basic mechanical ability, you can handle this without much hassle.... Junk....

Re: \"Power Beyond\" type valve

First, thanks for reponding (everyone). The BX1500 has a location on side of transmission for installing a hyd. block adapter (Kubota's name for it). An existing hyd. valve is already there. On this existing valve, is a small cover plate. The plate covers two hyd. ports (in/out). When installing attachments such as FEL, dirt blade, the attachments come with the adapter mentioned earlier. The adapter replaces the OEM cover plate. Adapter has two threaded ports (in/out) that you connect hyd. lines that go to the newly installed control valve which will operate the attachment. Close to the adapter plate (but on trans. case itself, is a plugged "return port". A return line from the remote valve is hooked up there. The actual remote valve can be mounted anywhere, but Kubota supplies (with attachment) a post-type mount which has the valve mounted to it. This "post" mounts on r/side of tractor frame just ahead of floorboard. Hope that helps.

One connects to the aux valve's inlet port and the other goes to the valve's power beyond port. Make sure you get them correct.

This is the return to tank port. It is for exhaust fluid from the valve's work ports.

Pretty standard stuff.

Re: \"Power Beyond\" type valve

So, does the new control valve I want to add (perhaps clamped to the ROP) have to have "power-beyond" capability even though no other valve will be installed further downstream? I'm glad it's simple to you. Brain surgery is simple for me - not this. Ha.Ha.

Yes. As I understand it, when you plumb the new valve into the hydraulic block, it will be inserted in the power circuit between the pump and the TPH valve, so the TPH would always be downstream. At least that's the way it appears to work on my B7800.

Re: \"Power Beyond\" type valve

Yes, you need a valve with power beyond. The 3pt is the last valve in line. If you want everything to work optimally then the aux valve needs to have a power beyond sleeve.

Re: "Power Beyond" type valve

Ok, I am new to the tractor hydraulics and forum thing but, I'm in need of some help. I have a Kubota L5740 and am hooking a tree spade to it. The tree spade has its own hydraulic controls. I believe I need a Power Beyond remote to make it work correctly. I currently have to plug it into one of the tractors remotes and tie the lever forward. I've been reading your posts and have learned about Power beyond. Can I put this on the L5740 that currently has two remotes?

thanks mike
