power drain on dodge.. got a fuse / circuit question

I wonder if they have the trailer power, charging the breakaway switch battery..?? They had our dumptrucks wired that way. Removing the b-away battery + terminal wire should tell you pretty quick.

Just a thought...

i know some of our trailers are wired like that. however in this case it was not hooked to a trailer when it died.

however as others said. I will be checking the 7 pin and the jumpe rharness for any corrosion that might be letting power find ground thru that nasty green stuff.

no dead battery.

it's whatever is on that 40a fuse. and brake circuit that is doing it.

pulling that and the bat don't go low.

can only assume the brake controller is just getting a lil power hungry in it's old age.

Did you ever try it with the 40a fuse in BUT with the glovebox light fixed? Otherwise, how do you know it wasn't the glovebox issue that fixed the problem??

Also, when checking amps inline, did you wait a few minutes after hooking up to let the ecm/pcm power up and then go idle. Any reading within the first minute or so is a false reading.

One more thing, did you unhook the hood light? The power draw should be closer to 50mA, 100 is pushing the upper limits.

yes, unhooked hood lamp.. and did wait for the timer on the ecm / pcm

no, i don't think he tried it with the fuse in.. .. as we removed the fuse and pulled the glove switch at the same time.
