New Holland 1030
I'm having trouble with power delivery on my new Boomer 1030 28 HP tractor 30 hrs on the clock. I am hearing the relief valve bypass go off when I'm backing up into my pole barn. It seems that the pressure isn't set properly in the transmission or I have a an issue with the pump it's self. I was tilling a small garden for a neighbor and the tractor would not climb qver a 6-8 inch lip at the end of the row without being placed in 4wd while in low range. My little BX2200 would have walked over and out of the garden without so much as a hint of a struggle. I'm disapointed that low range seems so weak. I attempted to remove about 2" of top soil with the tractor when building a 10x50 pad for my equipment and I could bearly scrap the dirt up and move it out. Low range in the BX seemed much more powerful then this unit and it shouldn't be like this. If anyone has a 1030 or experience with this unit 1110-1030 please chime in and tell me what you think. Not real happy to date. The dealer was contacted and they are supposed to get back with me tomorrow, they want to check with the NH rep to see if he has any Idea's. I know they can pressure test the valves to see where they are set so I'm hoping for some answers soon I bought my baby to work not sit and look pretty. Mark

Sounds like you have HST relief valve issues problems. But another thing to check would be your brakes might be stuck and not releasing.
Your tractor should not be acting this way and I would not run it as you could cause undue wear or damage. Is it under warranty?

My Boomer 1030 has 43hrs on it now and no problems at all thus far. My tractor goes anywere I want it to go. Never experienced such problem you have. I back up hills with 6ft rear finish mower attached, never had a problem even down to low 2000 rpm with mower engaged. Oh, btw the hill is so steep, it would roll over the tractor if I'd attempt to go sideways. There is also a 5 inch lip (from lawn to concete) that I go over every time I mow backwards and forward with no trouble at all. Seems like there is something not right with the HST. I'd take that thing back to the dealer.

The tractor is still under warrenty I only have around 30 hrs now. Called the dealer and all they wanted to do was change the fluid and filter no pressure check for the bypass. I'm not happy with this and I was mad as H--l when they told me I would have to pay to fix a new tractor thats had this issue since new, $350-400 for the 50 hr service. I can change my own engine oil, I want the hydro fixed properly. I hate to allways post here when I have a problem but this is where I depend on for good sound advise on issues such as these. DieselMonk I sure would like to talk to you on the phone sometime because I have alot of other questions to ask. Let me know if you wouldn't mind. Mark

Hating posting or not, but it is the better way, as it is sort of documented and maybe others can chime in as well. Not everyone is looking everyday, but it might be a good idea. Best way to start is try to post a video what you are experiencing while going backwards. I use my 1030 with a 6ft Woods rear finish mower and I have a front rotary broom for it as well. I am not using it to dig with as I don't have a front loader for it.
Post also all the other questions you have.

I have to mow a steep slope on the side of my garage that I have to back up on with the rear finish mower engaged to mow the grass there with 4wd manually engaged (other than that I slide back down the hill once I am almost up there) and I can do that with 2000rpm no sweat at all.

Did you check your HST fluid level? Are all hoses on the HST tight (sucktion air leak / bubbles in the HST oil)?

Had to do some 3hr mowing today with my 1030 and the 6ft rear finish mower. I placed it against a large tree (I have a front quick latch system for front implements). There was no sign of any loss in power and no relive valve either. It kept spinning all 4 tires in low gear.

Does your HST relief valve go off at any rpm or only at idle?

It sounds as though the bypass valve is opening just backing into the garage let alone on the slight hill out front. New Holland stated they couldn't get involved unless I return to a dealer and have the fluids changed at my cost, B.S. I stated the tractor has been doing this from new it's not a fluid problem it's a presure issue somewhere between the bypass function or the hydro pump it's self. I asked what good is the warrenty on a brand new tractor if you won't fix the problem? I can't get a wheel to spin no matter what. I would like to know if you have the same tractor or not my Boomer is the step up from the TZ model, I think New Holland had another 1030 but much larger tractor. Mine is not the T1030 it is the Boomer 1030 just want to be sure we are talking about the same unit. I was sitting at the bottom of the slope outfront and the tractor wouldn't move no tire spin just heck of a whine in the tranny. I'm about fed up with the "we'll just change the fliud and that should take care of the problem". Fluid is full and clear as a whistle. Mark

The HST fluid and filter have to be changed anyway at 50hrs. HST fluid is Ambra 134 hydraulic oil. It takes less than 10L. The filter isn't much $$$ either. For the few bux it cost to change filter and oil, I'd be grining at the mechanic, if he figures out that oil and filters wasn't it. Like I said, you have to change the filter and oil anyway at 50hrs...
Most of the time when there is something wrong with the HST a oil and filter should cure it. If not, that's what the warranty is there for. I don't think fluids are covered under warranty.
You stated that the tractor did this since new. Why didn't report it back then? Would have been easier that now.

Mine is due soon for the 50hr change and I have fluid and filter already here.

Scaper, please don't be insulted by this but be sure to check your tire pressure. I had a similar situation and the wheels were slipping in the tires. This is a dangerous situation.. If it works better in 4 wheel drive than 2 wheel drive it could well be that your rear wheels are slipping.
