I did report it when they delivered the unit to my home. I called the dealer before my sales person was back to the shop. They picked it up the next day and took it back to see why it didn't have any power. I told them about the hydro at that point when they took it back ,they said all hydros do that, B.S. I've had five and never had an issue before. So to answer your question I did tell them right away they just told me there wasn't a problem, I guess I just steped off the boat. I have also checked the tire pressure hydro fluid levels, oil and air cleaner several time never an issue with any off them and the tractor has never sat outside it's in it's brand new home 30x52 pole building with concrete floor. So here is the latest. Called the selling dealer this morning told him I had talked to New Holland and what I wanted to happen. Pressure test the bypass and hydro pump first make sure it's in spec. Make sure there is no problems with restriction. Then they can change the filters and try the unit to see if that helps, if not fix the D--n thing properly I don't want it back if it won't serve me thats the bottom line. It's new and under warrenty I don't expect excuses just my new tractor working the way it should. I'm not trying to be a pain in the butt , I just want what I paid for a new tractor that does it's job. Any more ideas please feel free to ask. By the way is your unit a Boomer 1030 I need to know. Thanks Mark

Well... if that's the case and you already complained about it at the dealer... then I'd send it to him. The 50$ for oil and filter I wouldn't care about if they charge it to me as long I'd get it back in working order.

Ideas? Yes I have many... I don't know enough on the specific condition. For example: If the tractor works when cold and this issue pops up after working with the tractor, I may be pointing at the HST fan. If it isn't hot HST transmission and oil causing that, than there may be bubbles in the oil or plugged filter, which causes it not to work correctly either. At this point a filter and oil is in order. Another idea I came up with are the splines on the driveshaft between motor and HST. After that there is to take transmission apart or replace. I am out of ideas now.
To date I didn't find anything where I would not have enough power to pull or push something (even uphill in reverse) or at least spin all 4 tires on the lawnin low gear and turning the engine at around 2000 rpms. No more no less.

The gentlemen with the idea of slipping rims inside the tire: Well there should be something happening with 4WD engaged. At least there would be some tire spinning. My unit came with auto4WD (sensitrac).

My tractor is a 2010 model year Boomer 1030, Sensitrac, front rotary broom and 6ft rear finish mower. She's gonna be 2 years old in a few days... sigh... So far zero problems with it and 48 hrs on the clock and counting!

Well my friend and I took it to the dealer this morning and service manager drove it off the trailer, he tried to get the tires to spin and was unable to do so even in low range. I told him that I had placed the bucket up against my drainage pipe this morning with my buddy watching ,wet grass under the tires and no wheel spin under full power low range. He also applied the brakes manually and pushed the pedal to the floor hrdro whined and power went down on the engine. He looked at me and said something isn't right, well that's what I've been saying. He told me he will pressure test the bypass because sometimes they aren't set properly from the factory, Ya think! Then he stated I should let them change the two hydro filters $64.85 for one $34.00 no fluid change needed he said at 50 hrs. So since I would have done the filters anyway I said do it, even though it seems like a high price for the two filters. He also stated that sometimes there are alot of metal shavings that can clog the filters, I guess that could be true but I would think it would take a boat load to do that. I hope if that's the case I still have some metal on the castings, LOL. Anyway he stated they would figure it out and fix the problem, I'm hoping so. I asked how long and he stated first of next week. I told him I had work to do (gardens to till) and he said I get it done as quick as I can the right way. Fair enough I just want it right and back ASAP. Thanks for the communication on this subject I will keep you informed. By the way we have the same year 2010 and drive system on our units Mark

To tell you the trouth, I am kinda happy that she finally quit like that and that you brought her back to the dealer. There is surely something wrong with your unit as mine has power like mad, compared to yours. The 2 filters your dealer is changing, is one HST filter and the other is the hydraulic filter. Changing these filters, you lose most of the hydraulic fluid (coording to the manual). It supposed to take 13L.

Pushing the brake and pushing pedal on the floor is not the correct HST test method. You have to do it without the brakes and drive against something solid on a lawn. Wheels should spin no sweat.

I am not sure what to tell you about the filters. To date I never had a filter be full within the first 50hrs on a new maschine. I can still mow one more time until I am due for the first service. So I am very interested on the outcome of your problem and I hope the dealer fixes it correctly so you can enjoy your investment and little helper.

Your tractor also came with the Sensitrac?

I did the test against my drainage pipe with wet grass no wheel spin at all. There is no doubt that they knew all along something wasn't right. But the service manager stated it would be fixed right this time, I did tell New Holland if not there won't be a next time . I will demand my money back or go legal (which I would hate to have to do but I need a tractor to do my work and that's the bottom line). Yes I do have sensitrac. Talk to ya soon to give an update. Up date. I talked to the dealership today and they stated that the filters and fluid has been changed and all seems ok. I asked if they had pressure tested the bypass and they said I'm sure they did. But when they came back on the line after checking on the test I was told that unit wouldn't be ready in the morning because the tech wanted to re-do the pressure test to make sure all if right. I asked if there were shavings in the filter and I was told no! They stated that the tires spin in low range but they aren't made to spin in High range. Really? They did their test in a stone pile, loose stone under the tires, sure they would spin it's like being on marbles. I would think they would spin whenever in or on loose soil, grass that is wet and so on. I asked if it would have the power to back up my hill they stated " well it should" I don't want to here it should I want to know it can without any struggle at all. I have a feeling that only the fluid change has been done to date because as of this morning at 7:35 they hadn't even touched my tractor, it has been there since last Thursday. They were open Friday, Sat and today and I left it around 10am on Thursday to boot. Mark

Well got news from the dealer that the tractor hydro pressure was on the low end of spec. They stated the spec calls for 2575 PSI at one third pedal depression to 3000 PSI. They stated my unit was at 2600 PSI so they bumped it up to 3050 PSI and they say it works fine now. That's yet to be seen. I pick the unit up on Saturday morning so I'll have to wait and see what it is doing. They also stated that the tires shouldn't spin in high range no matter what. My only question is this, why set it at 3050 PSI if it calls for 3000 PSI? Oh well New Holland won't cover it under warranty said it's going to cost me $252.00 out of pocket to get my new, under warranty tractor to work right. That stinks , so my feeling is that they don't want to stand behind their warranty even on a new unit. Mark

I am not sure if the tires would spin in high range or not. Never tried. The 1030 is my second boomer tractor. I still have my first one a TC55DA. Never had any problem getting waranty work done to any of mine. If I recall, I sent my TC55DA back for the 50hr service and getting a Laurin cab installed at the same time. By them selves they found that the engine wasn't cranking out spec HP. So they dyno'd it and set it where it should be. No charge.
My dealer bends over backwards if I need something. Did you call NH and what did they say about this?

Every hydrostatic unit I have ever worked on has a separate relief for both directions. Odd that the dealer mentioned only one pressure reading.

Is the tractor weak in both directions?

My TC40 manual shows how to test both directional reliefs and the spec is 5000psi, and the reliefs are not adjustable.

Perhaps the 1030 is an unusual design, but one pressure reading and 3000psi max sounds very unusual.

I'd find someone with a manual and confirm what the dealer is telling you.

The dealer never mentioned a second relief valve. He only tested what ever they do I guess. The tractor has been weak since they delivered it. First they stated there was plastic fillings in the fuel tank, they drained it and flushed the system so they say. I told them the hydro was not functioning properly and they said that they all make that noise(bypass) and that was the way it is. B.S. I've owned a lot of hydro tractors and none have made that particular sound when not under extreme load. I'm upset because they stated they would have to change the fluid first to see if there were shavings in the filters, (nothing) then they would have to pressure test the bypass. I didn't send it in for service, I sent it in because it wasn't performing properly! Now I'm told the service would have needed to be done at 50 hrs anyhow so they did it. I can change my own filters. I was willing to pay for the filters but I think they should have saved the fluid, since they said there wasn't anything wrong with it and according to them didn't need to be changed at 50 hrs. and re-installed it into the unit. All that would have been needed was a clean container. New Holland customer service warranty department said they don't get involved with claims it's the dealers call if it is warranted or not. Oh and by the way NH said they only charged you for one hour labor to fix the tractor and they (the dealer) stated they had over 3 hrs in the job. Big whoops I have over 3 hrs taking it to them and picking it up and bringing it back home! New tractor won't work right and I pay the bill, not setting right with me at all. I feel they didn't do the job right the first time I sent it back and was very specific about the hydro seeming under powered. The service manger told me " You know it's not an earth mover so don't expect it to do more then it's intended to do" No I just want it to work properly. Mark
