Power Service = warmer engine

I tend to agree with Snow Ridge. Theoretically, an increase in ignition temperature resulting from a change in Cetane rating could warm the coolant a bit, but only that coolant right next to the combustion chamber that has not yet moved through the radiator. Maybe, just maybe, IF you are seeing an increase in ignition temperature and IF your temperature sensor is near a combustion chamber, you MIGHT see the increase you mention.

I wonder if this machine has that same defective type of NH thermostate with the dangle-ball that sticks the thermostat open.. and perhaps, maybee the ball finally slipped, and is letting the thermostat work correctly now?

That sounds like a more likely explanation...:)

I didn't know about the dangly ball problem. Sounds like a ram I know.

Soundguy is right. There is a problem with the thermostats on some NH tractors.
Do a search on here I think Jinman has some photos of the problem and how he solved it. I figure you DX is the same tractor as a NH.

The TC55 and DX55 show a lower temperature on the gauge according to many posts on here. Some went as far as using a thermometer gauge to read the actual operating temp, and it was right at the low end of the normal range. So I figured mine was normal too as it never moved above that low edge of the normal line on the gauge. That was unitl I doubled the Peower Service dose last week.
I used the tractor again for a couple hours yesterday, and the gauge gradually moved into the normal range (maybe 1/8 into it), and then would slowly drop back to the bottom edge of the normal range, and slowly back up, etc. It stayed on the low end until I used it harder then would come up a little. It dropped back when I would idle. This seems like it would be normal to me, except that it hasn't warmed this much in the past, even in the hot summer. I thought it was the Power Service double dose that boosted the operating temperature, but from the opinions here that is unlikely. I won't worry about it, but I'll kee an eye on the gauge.
Thanks.

I can't see that creating more excess heat is ever a GOOD thing.
Diesels DO run cold, some have more excess cooling capacity than others... so ?

Just had the thermostat replaced in my TC40 after 11 months of use. My temperature runs at about midway of the green before the stuck thermostat and after the replacement. Just before it was replaced it barely moved only making it just shy of the green.
