Jim, you have a switch???? Wow, sounds very cool. Nothing like that on my TN.
So you can use your PS at 2200 rpm? Good to hear. If you can post a pic of your switch, that would be nice.
Bob
Here's the switch, if the pix comes through.
From the EHSS manual: "The EHSS transmission has two hydraulically operated clutch packs that drive the forward and reverse gears. The hydraulic clutch packs operate independently of the PTO system. Shifting the shuttle control lever to the neutral position stops the [forward] travel of the tractor while the PTO continues to operate; therefore the tractor has live power take-off.
The EHSS hydraulic system consists of an oil reservoir, oil strainer with six bar magnets, oil filter, pump, control valve, shuttle clutches, control levers and linkage. The oil reservoir strainer with magnets, oil filter and inlet tube are common with the 3-point lift system."
It sounds complex and probably is pricey to fix, but it operates like Joe 427 says - makes you look like a pro. Similar to Deere backhoes I've run: 410 and 310. The switch just makes the engagement happen quicker or more slowly. I don't think the actual clutching is done with plates, more like hydraulic lockup rather than discs. That's what the section schematic looks like, anyway.
I think it's got the advantages of the gear transmission with some of the ease of reversing the hydros have. Very happy with it.
