Congratulations Stray and welcome to TBN. Sounds like you got one heck of a deal there. Having just bought my 425 days before that 422 was posted for sale, I was just about sick at missing such a steal. Oh well. I like my 425 very much.

When I was at the factory, I didn't really look at a 422, but I am fairly sure they still use two cylinders for steering. As for why the 422 is not considered a 'commercial' model, I can only think that they have to make a cutoff somewhere in designating which models are commercial and which are residential, and that is the point they chose. I assume that they figured maybe they should have one gasoline engine version with a commercial label, and decided that anything below that should be residential only. Regardless, I wouldn't worry too much about it. The 422 is still a well-built machine. Also, the only PT I got to test before going to Tazewll happened to be a 422 that was being used commercially by a landscaper. He was very happy with his, and was amazed at everything it could do. I'm sure that you will be equally happy with yours. Happy tractoring!

Congratulations and welcome to TBN!

Your PT422 is about the same as my older PT425. Same lift height, wheel motors and everthing else except for the engine and ROPS. I love mine just the way it is. You will most likely like yours, too. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Stray..congrats & welcome. I'm sure you'll be satisfied with the 422, esp with those attachments!!! My 422 is a few months old so I guess is the newer model and mine has 1 steering cylinder...has not posed any problems for me just having 1. The only "mod" I would like to make at this time is perhaps putting the teeth on the smaller bucket on a bar for quicker attach/removal. You have a nice package on that deal..I'm green with envy! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

in power trac's sales video, 2 of the 4 commercial landscape contractors that are spokespeople for the products are shown using 422's in their operations. Good luck with your's.

Thanks guys. as soon as i fugure out how to use this forum i'll post some pics. for now as I have used all the attachments except the hole digger and boom. I'll rate them from 1-10 keeping in mind i have the 22 hp engine. bush mower=9 I had to put air in the tires 2 twice, used it about 6 hrs. it does very well stump grinder = 4 it wasn't that fast and it was messy, it would dig a quick trench 8" deep though. finish mower = 5 it will make do. If i were to choose between it and the bush hog, i'd get the bush hog and mow my yard with it. 5 cu ft bucket = 9 it digs great but carries a small load. mini hoe = 10 fine piece of equiptment. palet forks 10 don't be cought with out them. tonight I'm going to drag some tree tops and branches off. Going to use an I bolt installed in one of the rock teeth mounting holes in the bucket, rope and chain.

oh no , why would you opt for the brush hog over the mower , just curious as i just ordered the 60'' mower for my 425 ....... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I have the 48 inch mower and for me it is all the machine can handle in tall grass this time of year. If you have several acres to mow and keep it mowed regular I guess the 60 will be ok but if you let it get very thick you will be going slow or feeding it half the 60”. I would recommend (for sure for the 22 hp) the 48” mower. It is wider than the wheels. There may be more I can do to the mower but I was getting as good a cut with the brush hog. A the same time you can take down some pretty big stuff with the mower. I haven’t mowed as much as some others on this forum. How about someone else chiming in.

hmmmmmmm , well my grass or weeds arent that thick ..yet guess as long as it hit it once a week if its been a rainy week or every two if its been a dry couple of weeks the 60 '' should handle it , so im hoping i reall may not need the hog but think itd be nice somewhere and i really want a mini hoe how well does the 9'' buket dig there in tenn. we have most all clay here in ga. and has anyone put a bigger bucket on the hoe such as a 12'' bucket
