Nice signature, ever considered a side job making signatures for TBN? I'd hire you!

Re: Power Trac PT425 ignore more sig stuff

I took a photo of the unit from the side and saved it as a BMP. Then I used good old microsoft draw to go over it in simple colors. I used this master BMP and drew each attachment from memory. I saved a seperate BMP of the PT425 with each implement and one with nothing attached. I then used paint shop pro to convert these BMPs to gifs. Then I reduced them to 100x67 and used the animation shop that comes with paint shop pro to create the animated gif with changing frames every 5 seconds. I believe it is only 2.2K in size. Took about an hour and a half total.

You mentioned that you added arm rests, did that mean a whole new seat as well or just the arms rests? I can not remember if the seat was soft and comfortable when I test drove the unit.

I also live in cold country, are you having any problems starting or warming the oil? I was wondering if a magnetic block heater would work placed on the oil reservoir side?

The unit that I saw in person was used by a landscaper. It had a rather thin seat. The one in the video appeared to be thin as well. I called Chris at Power Trac and asked if the extra $100.00 was just for arm rests or a thicker seat as well. He said that all of the seats are now the thicker model with the Power Trac logo impressed into the seat back and that the $100.00 was just for the arm rests. Well, I could have taken other people's advice and bought an aftermarket seat with armrests for about the same price, but I didn't. I like it, but don't know if the arm rests were worth the extra $100.00. They are very comfortable, as is the seat and I'll find out this summer when mowin season starts.

Thanks, appreciate the advice. I plan on heading to their (Power-Trac) facility this summer to do some more demo driving and final purchase plans. I will look at the seat at that time but you made a good point about the cost.
I noticed a few comments about shipping, this made me rethink about picking my unit up and trailering it home. Have not had many good experiences with trucking lines.

Paul:
Depending on where you live and the size of your purchase, shipping may be cheaper than sales tax. If you pick up the unit at Power-Trac, they have to charge Virginia sales tax. In addition to regular trucking companies, Power-Trac can also arrange for delivery by a local guy with truck and trailer. I haven't bought yet, but am planning that type of delivery from Tazewell to Maryland.

It was under $600.00 for shipping to South Bend, IN. I ordered it on Friday afternoon and it was here Tuesday morning. I would have had to rent a truck, spent 12+ hrs to drive there, stayed overnight and driven back. I think we got a pretty good deal. I had to pick it up at the trucking terminal, but it is only 3 miles from my house. I ordered the ramps, so the first time I drove the unit was to load all of the attachments onto my friend's pickup truck and then back it up the ramps into my pickup truck. I ordered it over the internet and payed with a credit card. If I would have picked it up there, I would have had to pay sales tax. So the lack of tax offset the cost of shipping. It worked out very nice.

Great information, thanks. I will be back in Montana when I make the purchase which has no sales tax. I heard that you can have Power Trac bring your unit to one of the trade shows that may be closer to your state and pick up there. That would save me a number of miles if I elected to pick up or have it delivered via freight. Did anyone have any damage from the freight companies? VA to MT means more than one trucking company.

I had a little bit of paint rubbed off on the corners. Appeared to be where the tie down straps rubbed. I mentioned this to Chris at Power Trac and they not only gave me the cross reference for the paint(Sherwin Williams machine green and machine black) they sent me a small bottle of each! I don't think the trucking company could have dented it if they tried as there is no sheet metal anywhere that I can find. All 3/16ths steel or thicker!
