Hello everybody, I found this site a couple of months ago doing some research before I bought a new John Deere and was pleasantly suprised to find a PT forum.

I've got a question for ya'll, I bought my Power Trac (425) new in 2002 as part of the 400 series trailer package. I'm in the landscaping business and I don't know how I would still be in business if not for my Power Trac. My question is this, as my business has grown I have bought several equipment trailers and I am now "trailer poor". The PT trailer stays under the shed more times than not as we usually need to take one of the bigger trailers. Anyway, I'm thinking about selling it but don't really know what to ask for it. The bill of sale says I paid $5000 for it as part of the package (which I realize is a ripoff) but how much do you think its worth now? It's in real good shape, no dents or bruises, the only paint scratches are were the implements slide on and off and the original tires are still on it, though they are getting close to needing to be replaced. Oh it also has the bracket for the scrape blade. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance, CR

Welcome to the Power-Trac forum, a repository of knowledge and good people. What part of the country do you live?

Essentially, the worth of the trailer is worth what some one is willing to pay for it, or what you are willing to take for it. You might state all the particulars about the trailer, such as the weight limits, rear jacks, steel deck, etc. and provide pictures.

Welcome to TBN! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Once you decide on a price, be sure to post in the free classified section here on TBN. Also, you may want to see about selling it through Power Trac. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Welcome!

As far as that trailer, I have no idea, but will throw in my two cents anyway:

I'd say you have a bit of a quandry; the real value [and initial expense] to it is the fact it's been modified for the PT and all the tools. You might try listing it on PTs website &/or here and perhaps somebody has a 42X, quite a few attachments and realized they'd like the trailer too. So definitely worth a first try; barring that situation, I doubt you'll really get any value out of it beyond (probably even less, since anyone w/o a PT would likely cut off many of the weldments) whatever (#10K?) trailers of that condition are selling for in your area.

Another possibility, but it wouldn't make you money on the trailer per se: if you thought about a newer or larger PT anytime in the future, you could sell the whole thing as a trailer package now. I may be way off, but think it'd help retain the value on the trailer and possibly attachments better than sold separate.

Good luck! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Not that I could afford it but if you were close I'd be trying to "find a way".

And welcome to the PT forum! Sounds like you've had one long enough that we'll expect some knowledgeable input from you /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have been looking for a trailer for my 425 and have gotten several quotes from local retailers.
Around here the 16' - 10K # trailers with steel floors sells for about $3500.00 new, the 16' - 7K # trailers with steel floors sell for about $2500.00 new. Both depending on new or used tires and wheels and brakes and lighting and ramps or gate end.
14' 7K # with wood floor, no brakes, minimal lighting, no ramps or gate sells for $1195.00, 16'7K # with wood floor, no brakes, minimal lighting, no ramps or gate sells for $1395.00

I would be interested in your trailer if you are close to central OK, and we can come to a mutual agreement on price.
