Having owned the Power Trac 10 days, and already cut of something and welded on something else, I suspect that I may keep it. Certainly I made returning it for a refund a bit unlikely.
But, no buyer's remorse so far.
Next project is to dismantle another old Reese hitch and mount the receiver on a quick attach plate to hook things to the front.</font color=red>
Charlie, almost twelve month later we followed your suggestion and mounted an old but sturdy ??? truck trailer hitch to our pt. the only modifications are: we added 5 inches to either side in excess of the 425 engine compartment. rather than welding the hitch fast we bolted the hitch (via welded on angle iron stock) to either side of the engine compartment.
i got be too late last night to test pull anything real so we used a two ton tire jack, well the bolts did not budge.
thanks for the suggestion and pictures of your hitch adaptation invention/construction/painting process.
now i have to solve the electrical power problem because i hate to work on the road in the dark, without some sort of a strobe light in the rear. the additional lights we installed in the corner of the ROPS and the roof are great but seem to draw too much juice. i know i told this story before, now i need to act on this problem, because i also like at the same time to start my engine in this cooler part of the year without any problems.
