</font><font color="blue" class="small">( Hi...

While searching for info... I read from a professional to emboss/engrave your own ID (like your driver's liscense number) into parts of the equipment for later ID... since the manufacturer's ID tags are easily removed... take some pictures too...

I found (and ordered) a metal etching kit so I can do this... gonna use it on my tools too...

It is good to mark the tractor, but I wouldn't mark my tools if they are of an expensive nature such as Snap-On. Marked tools have half the value of unmarked tools when you decide to sell them. I would invest in some form of locking mechanism on my tool box first and make sure that it would be difficult to remove them. Beyond that, make sure that you have an inventory and insure them for replacement value. Marked tools are rarely recovered any more than unmarked tools. Besides, the markings can be ground off easilly....

Hi...

I mark my tools so I know which ones are mine... if I lend 'em out... especially to my sons... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Good point about resale... Never sold any hand tools..

A lifetime ago, I worked for an ag mfg company. All of us used snap on tools, since we could buy them at discounted cost via our company.

Few marked them by etching, but almost everyone chose a color of spray paint and sprayed a tatoo strip near one end, so when we worked together, you could tell who's was who's.

It was a small enough shop, we all knew each other's colors, so if you found a tool, you'd know who to give it back to.

I'm thinking of tagging via paint colors my metric/inch tools as I'm always mixing them up, expecially the sockets...... Let's see--guess I'll use ORANGE for my metric---- would sorta match my Bota!

Enjoy!

I have a friend that tried that once, but in his world, everything is a different shade of grey..... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
