Long time lurker, first time poster. I have 46 acres in Southern Ohio that I just purchased - select cut timbered with a lot of mess to clean up. Also will be clearing a site for a home build, putting in a 200yd driveway, and clearing a power line right of way too. I have a bunch of logging roads that will need to be graded and seeded too.

I've been looking at the Mahindra 1533 with the HST transmission and FEL. I got a quote for the following:

Brand new, 1 hour 2015 Mahindra 1533 HST with FEL - $18,000 + tax.
5' Medium Duty Rotary Cutter, 5' Medium Duty Box Blade, 4,000lb Pallet Forks - $3,100 - $1,200 3 implement rebate = $1,900 + tax.
$200 delivery of approximately 45 miles

All of the above pricing is either paying cash or using 4.99% financing and NOT the Mahindra 0% - which would change the above numbers. I haven't decided if I will pay cash, finance all, or finance some (maybe 1/2).

Does this seem like a pretty good deal, or is it not due to the unit being 2 years old, even though it is brand new? I will also have the rear tires filled, and purchase spacers to widen the stance.

Great price. My 1538 with loader was about typical 8 months ago at 23,500ish.

The Mahindra implements aren't very good. The pallet forks block your view and the box isn't worth much. If you have the cash, consider some of the other brands.

I am still debating that, just kicking around the idea because of the $1,200 3 implement rebate. Of course, if the implements are not quality - I suppose it doesn't matter how much you 'save' as you'll end up replacing them anyway.

Their grapple is decent and the FEL counts- so that's 2. The heavy duty BB is OK - not the best but OK.

I priced out a 1533 in Lancaster Ohio, after tax it was 22-23k with the 1533, 7ft rear blade, 6ft land plane and the heavier pallet forks. Delivery was free being it was the same county. That was last November (2016) for a 2015. That was the cash price but I was gonna finance threw them with the 4.99 deal for 84.

I was about to sign, had everything ready to go until a used 4320 fell into my lap and I liked the deal so good I bought it and my buddy bought the same guys 28XL with a backhoe.

I looked at Mahindra, Case, Deere, Kubota and New Holland, for the money the Mahindra blew the rest out of the water on weight and loader capacity.

The place I priced the 1533 was Specialty Tractors in Lancaster, maybe give them a call and price check. I was gonna give a lot of thought to the 1538 but the guy said that they don't sell as well and the 1533 was priced better because them move so well, idk if that's true but that's what he said.

That's actually who I was working with and got that price from.

Bob I think was his name is who I dealt with, it was around fair time last fall.

Seems like he knew the products well, I knew a bit more about Mahindra as a company from some research I did before lol. I looked at where all the tractors were made ext ext, all the way Down to how many employees Mahindra had vs JD or others.

One thing I didn't like about that place was the tractors were older and had been sitting outside baking in the sun since they were new, when I looked at them the plastics were starting to fade, rust was starting to form on many parts of the tractor ext. if they still have new 2015s on site, I would be looking for a big inventive to buy a faded 2 year old new tractor. I'm sure there's nothing wrong with the tractors but that's two years shaved off the warranty and having to touch up paint.

The warranty stickers on the tractors said 5 years but bob said they are covered for 7 years since Mahindra changed that and there still new.

They had a line of tractors at that specialty RV lot (old van land) off 33, they showed them at the fair last year also, I'm surprised they still have 2015s left.

Before I paid for one, I would operate the tractor fully and go over it, have the guys answer questions there.

There has been a few guys that bought new tractors on here, 3 I can remember, one Mahindra, one JD 3039 and a kubota that found issues with the tractors as soon as they got them delivered.

It's easier to find issues and demand a diff tractor before you sign on the dotted line.

Specialty seemed like a good dealer, the guy I dealt with answered my questions well and I come up with some very detailed questions on the products I'm buying, I really tripped up the kubota and NH guys more than once, they're just sales guys that didn't know the ins and outs of the products. Non knew where the rubber on there tractors were made lmao, surprisingly all American rubber except JD, did not confirm where there rubber came from.

1533 is a sweet tractor, I liked it a lot. But I was giving lots of thought about doing the 1538. Only advantage is it would handle the bush hog better.

If I remember the discount on implements you get $500 off when you buy two and the total off when you buy 3 (I was thinking $1500 off). He also talked about a $500 customer satisfaction rebate that you get in the mail just for buying a mahindra tractor. So when I was looking it was $2000 off there sticker price, which was already discounted being it was a year old.

So cash price last fall was 21k and change plus tax for the 1533, 5ft land leveler, 6ft rear blade and the standard duty pallet forks.

Going off that looks like they knocked another grand or so off the tractor. But for $1100 more I would get the 1538 HST, that's how much more it was when I looked. $1100 for another 4-5hp is a good deal I feel, doesn't sound like much but from what I have seen it's usually $500-$1000 per HP extra on a new tractor. MSRP is $3000 more for the 1538
