I've been wondering about the well engineered part lately. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif Seems that CNH has cut some corners here and there, possibly in the interest of increasing profits, possibly just oversights on the part of the engineers or at the manufacturing facility, I don't know. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif But I've had numerous annoying issues - broken parts (small things, but put the machine down nevertheless) on my Subcompact DX24E, now at 155 hours. Every time something breaks, falls off, detaches, etc, I fix it, then take a look at my neighbor's
Kubota BX22 (350 hrs). And each time I do that, I find that the Kubota has been built a little bit better, with the apparent foresight to head off some of the problems that I've experienced with my Case.
Some of the issues could probably be attributed to the machine just not being big enough for the level of work I'm doing, but as I stated, many times I've found that it's more a matter of slightly inferior design or construction. Although I've realized that future projects at the scale of which I've taken on with this little Case are going to force me to upgrade a couple of sizes to a larger Compact tractor, based on my side by side use of a CNH SubCUT and a Kubota SubCUT, the next time I'll be purchasing a Kubota CUT. To me, the CNH models are now priced too high for the overall level of quality you get - but again, that opinion is based solely on my experience in the SubCUT arena.
I've also found that although my Case's engine was a little smoother and quieter than the Kubota when new, now at 155 hrs, it is just a bit louder and rougher running than the
BX22's engine with 350 hrs. That could just be the oil, as it's time for a change, and I'm switching over to full synthetic, which has quieted down larger diesels for me in the past, so this may no longer be an issue after the oil change this weekend.
