Price of hay where you live.

Hay? Or did you buy straw? Big difference, especially in price.

Thats for sure, I don't know where BizDoc lives in PA but I would love to get horse quality hay for 1.50 a bale.

I pick up a skid loaded with 70 bales for $355. The one that I did weigh came in at 3300lbs which comes up to about 5.07 a bale or 215 a ton more or less since the weight will vary some. Pricey but it is good hay and the horses eat it all up pretty much.

Believe it or not, straw can be as expensive as hay in my area. The landscapers scarf it up for starting turf in developments. They throw the bales into machines that shred it up and blow it out a tube.

That's probably mulch hay...not horse quality...well it may have been horse quality 2 years ago...

Decent quality hay for horses is selling for $5-9 per bale on the Front Range of Colorado right now. That's for the small squares, 50-60 lbs per bale.
