Yesterday I bought a new JD ballast box for $206.00 in Manassas, VA

My home made ballast.Some old plate and the remains from an old car lift head,best part is I dont need the tractor to move them since the heaviest weight is only about 100 lbs,total a little under 800 lbs.It also doesn,t hang on the hydraulics its solid mounted to tractor with 3pt arms removed.

Get a 15-25 gal plastic drum and fill it with cement. Same idea as the box but the plastic will stay in better shape. Lay it on its side and cut holes in the ends or use it straignt up and down. Run a draw bar thru it to attach your arms to. 25 gal of concrete is just under 500lbs. I've got the formula if anyone needs it.

I think it is worth the few extra bucks for the JD original. You can attach and detach in a few seconds with the I-Match. Besides, it all matches. It seems like I am always taking off the weight box either to blade, mow or run an auger.
