Oh, ok. Earlier this month I checked on the Equine Savings Program to see if it would be a net savings for me to trade up to a 1652. No more were available. Having said that, I settled on a 1652 instead of the 1648 because for an extra $1k it came with the bigger engine, extra weight, and longer wheelbase. Seemed like a no-brainer.

As it is, I'll be keeping my 1643 Hydro.

I agree on that, I'd rather have the 1652 hydro, but can't find one. Preferably, I would like the biggest hydro available with the best loader. With that said, currently the best deal on the market with those aspects in mind would be the Mahindra 6010. I'm still waiting to see how this 1648 is going to handle the work I'm going to do with it this year. I'm especially paying attention to how it handles the rear blade, box blade, and the loader work.

I can't see how a Mahindra, any Mahindra, would be better than a comparable-size Massey.

The ML156 loader on the 5010/6010 is rated for the same lift height as the DL130 on the Massey 1648/52/60/etc ... but the Mahindra loader is rated for about 600 lbs more at the pins to full height, and about 2000 lbs more breakout force.

Obviously that's manufacturer ratings but definitely an improvement over the Massey if true.

I'm looking forward to testing this loader out this summer tho ... my LS loader was rated for the same max lift but 1000lbs more breakout force. I want to see how this Massey loader does compared to that.

I'm not necessarily saying the Mahindra would be a "better" tractor, just more "powerful" by the specs.

We've come to realize that this DL120 loader is outperforming the specs provided by MF. It's rated at 1,800lbs at the pins and 1,300lbs at the cutting edge of the bucket. The round bales that we move around on the farm have been weighing in at 1,500-1,600lbs and are 4' in diameter. Granted, the loader/tractor struggles to lift and curl the bales, but it does it nonetheless. Given their diameter, it's pretty clear that the bales exceed the rated load the DL120 is supposed to have. Don't forget the weight of the skid-steer forks on the loader, too (probably another 200lbs or so).

I would imagine that the DL130 on your tractor probably surpasses the ratings put out by MF as well. You might be pleasantly surprised like we were.

Nope. Remember, the total weight on the front axle with our set of skid-steer forks is still 1,800-1,900lbs. It's just that the weight is carried a little further forward than the specs suggest. The front axle can more than handle that weight.
