( Question: If I purchase a JD out of state and say something needs to be replaced under warranty....will my local New Hampshire JD dealer do the fix for me or will I have to bring it back to the state I purchased it in?
)

They SHOULD do warranty work, but you probably wouldn't be top priority. I like to assume that I will HAVE to go back where I bought for service, that way, it only helps if the local dealer will work.

Why not send out bid requests to any dealer that will work, distance, wise? Look up your area dealers on JD's site and email, fax, or mail solicitations. Doing that I found a dealer who I never would have, otherwise. They were THOUSANDS less and have been awesome to deal with....

Im fairly sure they arent going to deal no matter what you say. If they do its a major event. BTW theres only one Deere dealer in the southern part of the state. ..he has 2 or 3 stores. Its too bad too b/c they make pretty good machines. I suspect every area has its high margin dealers who refuse to do any better on price. There are other tractors that run just as well. As someone else said you might look into 'mail order'.

YOU WON"T BELIVE THIS! I got a call back from the local JD dealer today. Here is the quote; a 4310 4x4, hydro, r4 loaded tires, 430 loader, and 48 backhoe only $32,595.00. If I trade my 790 with the backhoe I would still need to come up with $16,900.00 to get the 4310. So, they are only giving me $15,695.00 for my machine with less than 200 hrs. I paid over 21k for it brand new. For less than $5,000.00 more I could get the TLB 110. Why would I waste my time on the 4310? I actually laughed at the salesman. I really don’t know what to say but WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?????? Is JD doing that well to price a compact tractor that high?

At least he called you back. I would attribute this situation to the dealer rather than Deere. Knowing what I know now I plan never to waste my time trying to get a quote from them. I also wont recommend them. Id still consider a Deere but would get it 'mail order' rather than locally. VTW was your salesman''s name Mark?

WOW!! That's only $10,000 higher than what I paid (but with a 47BH...) Whatta Steal! (uh, for THEM that is....)

Back in May, when I was looking at new 4310s', I got quotes from four different dealers around the Denver Area. Average price for the 4310, 430 loader, 48 backhoe, Hydro trans., w/ R-4 tires was $25,500, plus tax. Looking at one of the quotes right now, shows Product total - 30,660.00, Discount - 5,160.00, Total Quote - $25,500.00. One or two quotes were $150/200 less, other quote was a little higher.

For the price you were quoted from your "local" dealer, you could buy one out here and have it shipped, and still save a lot of money.

I got lucky and found one for sale used w/ 22 hours on it. It has the power-reverser instead of hydro, the 420 loader and 47 backhoe, but it came with a new 16' steelbed trailer, chains, binders, all for $20,000.00. I now have 92 hours on it and really like the tractor.

I hope you are able to find a reasonable deal on a 4310, as these really are a great tractor.

Good Luck,

DT

Hey Scott - Have you decided to keep the 790? I thought you might be interested in two prices I've just gotten here in CT. One dealer was 28,249 and the other quoted 28,179. It seems that the New England dealers are pricier than some other parts of the country.

BTW - the quote was for exactly the setup you were talking about - 4310 HST, 430 loader (with hooks welded on) and the 48 BH with an 18" bucket.

I'm convinced these are nice tractors, I'm still having trouble getting my mind around that much money though. I priced a Kubota L3130 and it priced out within $20 bucks of the lower 4310 quote. These just aren't cheap!

Take Care.
