The Bull gear setup is a lot stronger, less noisy, and longer lasting than the ring and pinion setup. If you do any research, just look at the size and weight of the 2 and the difference will be obvious.
The Bull gear setup is what the big tractors run and they are looking at a lot more horsepower.

I think you should really think about this some more. A correlation does not mean causation....

I really can't take this serious when you think a pinion gear is loud.

Next issue. Of the top 5 selling brand of SCUTs (you fill in the brand names) have you heard of any having rear differential failures??

The JD rear is aluminium. I mean you're talking a little 1025, it's a tonka toy.

And to my knowledge JD is the only one reporting any problems. There have been some case failures. Maybe someone can confirm that?

I'd buy new and use that money that is saved up to make the notes with. By financing, you can get the insurance thru Deere that is hard to beat and you'll have the liquid cash sitting in case an emergency comes up. I love cash on hand

Most compacts utilize spur gear final drives. My New Holland 1720 did and it was fine in that application. Heavier duty farm applications utilize planetary final drives. My Workmaster has those. Nothing wrong or right with either just different applications.

I will take issue with resale. Kubota, New Holland, ECT... all resale around here just as good as Deere. We have very good dealer support for those brands. The closest Deere dealership is further away. All brands make good tractors. The dealer makes the difference. My local dealer carries New Holland, Kubota, and Mahindra. They do an excellent job with all three.

Maybe it's my local, but after attempting to go green five different times with my different orange tractors, I'll never go green. For some reason, each time I've priced the two competitors, the "I'm The Best John Deere" attitude prevails, and they think they are worth $5k more. While I like a few of the green features, that $5k will not make it last longer. That $5k can buy a few rear ends in my substandard orange tractor.

Well stated. I went thru that once as well. JD salesman actually told me to buy orange. :)

I highly doubt it will buy one new rear end.

Your money, your choice.
