Jeff,
I'm not sure how many blade set's went through it before I got my hands on it. I bought it from my neighbor who purchased it new. It was actually in really good shape when I bought it as he mostly only used it to mow his 4 acre field. Then he purchased a bigger, heavier duty mower when he sold this to me. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the original set of blades, I know I never replaced them.
I never had to repair anything other than the sheet metal. The gearbox is fine and filled with oil with no leaks. In fact the mower is still in fine shape operationally speaking. It needs the sheet metal straightened out but aside from that, and the "ugliness" of it, it's perfectly useable and will last a long time in the right conditions. To be fair, it's not the fault of the mower that it's in this condition. I didn't know any better when I bought it and never even new there were light duty, medium duty, and heavy duty applications. I just figured well "it's a Wood's, so it must be good". I guess you could say I was pretty ignorant at the time.
I honestly didn't use it all that much, but when I did use it, I didn't use it for it's intended purpose, which is light mowing in weeds and less than 1" material. Had I known better, I would have bought the same mower I bought the second time around.
I don't mow with it anymore, it has no place being on my tractor, and I'll never buy another light duty implement again, ever...even if that's all I'll "need" at the time.
I sold it for $800 a couple weeks ago, those pictures I took were when it was loaded up on the trailer ready for delivery. I wanted to make sure the new owner was aware of the condition it was in before I brought it to his house.
